smite will heal half amount of the damage, you also gain stacks as you smite which cause you to deal more holy damage as well as reduce the cost of smite. also you can use archangel to give yourself mana back as well as increase heal with the stacks.
I think because halfus takes 50% more damage every time you kill one of the drakes, you probably heal more since smite damage goes up. the smite heal is actually smart heal as well so.
I figure disc priest be awesome for halfus since you can rotate in so many damage reduction cd for you entire raid as well as cd for your tanks, the initial part of halfus is fucking brutal since you have to tank multiple drake while dodging shit or swapping tanks.

I thought it was 50% more damage for each drake released, not killed?

Thanks for the replies, I forgot about the damage buff on Halfus so that makes a lot of sense. I was going to try Disc when the next patch was released but I will probably try it even sooner. You’re right that Disc does have a bunch of damage reducing abilities. We just downed Cho’gall this week for the first time, so I haven’t tried any heroic modes yet, but I can definitely see how crucial those could be.

I thought was killed not released, could be just released.
I’m sticking with holy with our 10 man group since less healers and holy definitely beats out disc when comes to mana regen.

As some may be aware, Blizzard basically runs a scan of your system to see if it’s running (I can’t remember the name of the damn bot program but it’s fairly common). The botters naturally try to disguise the program that is running as a bot. So from time to time, Blizzard changes the program they are running and that will stop the bots, because they can’t log in anymore and their accounts are banned, at least until they figure out another way to to disguise their program.
If you do enough farming of ores and herbs, you’ll see from time to time an ore or an herb, and if you walk up to it, it disappears. That’s a bot taking the ore from underneath. Of course now it’s harder to tell as some areas are phased, and as part of the phasing, the ore/herb doesn’t show up.
You can tell bots in the AH because they are dumping large amounts of whatever it is they are farming. This morning those dumps weren’t there, so less ore/herbs and resulting higher prices if the bots are kept off.
I only mentioned it for people who might be looking for ways to make more money. Right now for example a stack of obsidium ore is going for 130g on Horde Arathor. Last week it was going for about 100g.
There’s a WoL for our kill here.
Basically, Smite x5, Archangel, Smite x5, Power Infusion, Holy Fire, spam Smite until it’s time to PI or Archangel again.
Power Word: Barrier as needed, of course, since it’s amazing. And glyph Pain Suppression so you can hit the drake-tanks with PS while they’re stunned from Halfus’ roar.

From underneath what? To my knowledge, any bot would be using a character (minus the phasing issue you mentioned). So if bot beat you to a node, you should see the bot. It would seem odd that the bot could mask itself from the server such that it can harvest undetected and also prevent your client from seeing it. That’s damn strange otherwise.
If you walk up to a node and it disappears, that’s just a delay (you just missed the person that looted it), or phasing.

That’s a small enough change in price that it could be a normal fluctuation. Economies on servers (especially low-medium pop servers) can have prices that fluctuate wildly just because there’s not enough price signals to create stability.
Anyway, do you have some other source for this?

Every time I’ve seen a node disappear it’s been because of phasing. Every time! This sounds like an old wives’ tale to be honest.
Mordrak

Well I just had it happen, were I got the node is already being used in a pre-phasing zone, and then it disappeared. There was an alliance relatively nearby so to me at least, lag seems a more likely reason.

<shrug> they are there, the market reflects them, I’ve seen them pre-4.01, watch the prices of ores/herbs go up in the next week. Honestly I really don’t care. I make 1-2k a day so no need for me to farm.

I don’t think anyone’s arguing that people have used bots in the game or may, just curious at your specific source. So you watched the market, saw a change, said it was bot clearing based on that. Ok, that’s fine. I don’t know if it was bot clearing or not, but your comments about vanishing nodes to invisible bots is what made me scratch my head.
And really, the price of goods going up after a major patch isn’t that surprising, bots or not.
There has not, by the way, been a major patch this week.
There was a server-side patch the other night, significant number of hotfixes, and the launcher recently downloaded ‘new tools’, so it might well be that Blizzard improved their anti-bot software.

I should xfer to Arathor Horde. On Moonrunner Alliance a stack of Obsidium goes for 60-70g.

you can buy a ton of gold with the money you spend transfering.
Yes, if you’re okay with that sort of thing. Kind of weird to assume people are, however.

Yah, but only assholes buy gold.

Yah, no gold buying for me. I’m just sort of bemused at how local economies shake out.

Thank you, sir. I will look into this more closely when I get a chance this weekend. We just finished our raid week off with a bunch of wipes to Nef. We keep getting overwhelmed in phase 3. Maybe I’ll give disc a shot on it.

Well the example she gave was from a week after a patch dropped. So I don’t know. You might be able to guess when bot or gold farming accounts are banned from fluctuations in the market. But then that’s a guess, at least I was under the impression she had something more solid than changes on the AH as a source when she first posted.
