Vortex pinnacle, me and the buddy again, this time he was tanking and I was doing my pitiful scratch spec. He got blown off the side during the second or third pull, so I switched to bear form and cackled with glee in anticipation of the swipes and thrashes and mangles and lacerates and pulverizes I was going to use to aggro the mobs. I was going to be a big damn hero and totally save the day, no sweat. Then I noticed I hadn’t bound any hotkeys for my bear form in my secondary spec. Well, I say any; I had maul, taunt, and demoralizing roar. Oops.

Still, no deaths.

I also have heard that bots can travel underneath the world to steal herbs and mines. I’ve also had countless herbs disappear from me in areas that I don’t think were subject to phasing.

We know that player positioning is done client-side, which is how the gold sellers are able to use dozens of players and float them in the air to spell out the name of their gold selling site. So, moving a bot under the world isn’t entirely out of the question.

Tons of bots in the elementium mines in Twilight Highlands. I’ll see a mob start acting weird, like it sees someone and it starts moving erractically. Then the non-phased mine I was about to get just disappears.

I know there was a point where bots were running rampant underground to nab herb and ore nodes. And there was a teleportation bug that (mostly) involved the egg you get from Ferelas and turn in at Gadgetzan. Pretty sure those specific issues were fixed (though of course new vulnerabilities could have cropped up).

However, phasing is used in plenty of places, and I’ve seen ore nodes and game elements phase out of existence in all of the Cataclysm zones. It’s especially evident if you fly high and then swoop down - I have found that if I fly around at a lower altitude, it happens much less frequently.

They really need to fix all the ore/herb spawns so that they’re present in every phase.

In the unlikely event that anyone cares, I’ve cut my WoW time to a fraction of what it was during the first month of Cata. Not necessarily intentionally…

One day I went and blew all my TB marks on the Drake of the West Wind. Wanting to piss off my friend for using my TB marks on a mount instead of useful gear, I told him to come to the Stormwind bank in the Trade district. I was mounted, hovering over the bank door with my /afk flag on, a joke on how afking on your rare-ish mount over a high traffic area is WoW’s REAL endgame.

My friend said to come to the Dwarven bank instead since HE had something to show ME. This would totally blow my /afk joke out of the water, so I told him to come to Trade again. He said it’d take too long.

That’s when I knew what he was about to show me.

I flew over to the Dwarven bank in a daze, like a prisoner willingly walking to the electric chair, so paralyed by dread that I seemed serene.

And there it was. The Sea Turtle. Oh, and he had the blade from Baron Rivendare, but that didn’t set in til later.

The WoW endgame. Rare mounts on bank steps.

I lol’d over Skype, made up some reason to leave, and quit.

I haven’t played my main since, and have put maybe 4-5 hours into alts over three weeks.

I now have 5 85s with a 6th on the way. A hunter in raid gear who is getting the West Wind Drake today. I think I may have to cut down my time as well.

I try to play my alts, but I keep wanting to go back to my main. My closest next character is a lvl 62 hunter who has been sitting in the Hellfire Peninsula for 3 years. With heirlooms and the guild achievement to level faster I’m sure it wouldn’t take long. But I just can’t be bothered. I keep wanting to heal ;).

Is the turtle mount that rare? I hate grinding, and I have it. Maybe I just got lucky.

I think it’s something like a 1-in-3000 chance when fishing in Northrend pools, so yeah, you got lucky.

Yes, it’s extremely rare. I don’t know the exact drop rate, but I know people who have been fishing for it since it was first announced (off & on, obviously) and they still haven’t gotten it.

Of course, random drop is random. But I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people I know who have it, despite the fact that I know many achievement whores. (including myself)

You can get it from pools in the 80-85 Cataclysm zones as well.

I thought that hasn’t been implemented yet but was coming in the patch…?

Did I mention three days before the Sea Turtle Incident he was at 0 Fishing?

WoW’s one of two or three games he owns, but it nevertheless gave me perspective on the game. Fishing? Really? Are we that bored?

And in retrospect, I regret playing a Tank. That burned me out hella fast.

Yeah, I told my guild officers I had no problems with getting mats for flasks, but I drew the line at being expected to fish “for the good of the guild”. Fuck. That. Shit.

The best way to farm volatile fires right now is via fishing, and you don’t even need any skill!

Heh, this is going on on Moonrunner- it is funny to see 5 or 6 guidlies all huddled around pools in various spots fishing for that rep/achievement.

I don’t need any volatile fires. I get them from mining. Fishing is by far the worst gathering profession in the game in terms of utter tedium.

If we want to really talk about pointless timesinks that are boring as fuck, Archaeology wins the prize by far.

Archaeology’s mechanics aren’t quite as bad as endlessly staring at something, waiting for it to move so you can then press a button asap.

Plus, you know, the rewards are a leetle better.

I can only say I stand by my decision to ignore professions completely.
