She breathes more since this reset or?

As someone stated above, Magmaw resets threat after every exposed head phase. As such your tank should be spamming taunt asap to get initial focus and dumping threat in to it. Your group should be moving out of melee range about 5 seconds before the transition so you don’t have any accidental face punches.

This is what we do, just move everyone 3-4 seconds before the end of the phase. One thing we’ve noticed though is that we’re only getting one batch of worms now between spikes. Made the fight pretty trivial for us.

Yeah we’ll start doing that - it’s just very strange that we never saw this behavior before 4.06. I guess we just got lucky?

What is the easiest (85) heroic to start with?

Not The Deadmines.

Vertex Pinnacle.

Vortex pinnacle, lost city, throne of tides, halls of origination and deadmines are the easier ones, approximately from easiest to hardest.

Grim Batol, Stonecore and Shadowfang can be downright mean. More unforgiving fight mechanics, more dps check fight mechanics.

I’ve not done Blackwing enough to be sure where it fits in, general difficulty is probably on a par with deadmines but bump it into the second group because Karsh requires focus from the tank, Obsidious requires someone to kite reasonably cleverly and Corla requires 3 people in the group who aren’t stupid.

Caveat to this: This is based on what I found hard. So much depends on your group - a good tank can completely negate a lot of mechanics by correct positioning and give the healer more time and mana to heal the rest of the group. A good healer can make the amount of room for failure much wider for everyone. Good dps can avoid or negate a lot of damage by performing fight mechanics correctly, and reduce the time the fight takes, reducing the window for mistakes and stress on healer manapool. So a fight that I normally find hard might be easy for some people and vice versa.

Interestingly I’m finding dps harder than healing in Cata there’s so much more you have to pay attention to. Healers have been getting greif because when the healer goofs someone dies. Frequently when the healer doesn’t goof, someone dies anyway.

Does anyone else’s JBoots seem slower after last patch?

You kite her to Vael’s room while wearing JBoots?

Come to think of it we are about to try Nefarian & Undeadnixia, and she is just above Vael’s room now… at least I think it’s above, not sure why Descent is higher than Upper Spire.

MMO-Champion has some details on patch 4.1!
Zul’Aman and Zul’Gurub are back as level 85 Heroic 5-mans
There’s a Caster Legendary, and a new model for Ragnaros (I assume he’s the final boss in the Firelands raid). Definitely check out it out though - he’s got legs and it looks hilarious

Awesome news on the new 5-man stuff.

Yeah, I am sick to death of Vortex Pinacle, which I seem to land in randomly more than any other dungeon.

That’s because I’m non-randomly selecting it over and over as one of the easier initial heroics to do. :)

It’s not difficult, but it contains far too many instances of Blizzard’s beloved tornado mechanic. Really annoying.

Tornados seperate the men from the boys. Put hair on your chest, so to speak.

At least they patched it to where you couldn’t be chain-bounced out of the fight area and then auto-killed. That said, the Altarius (sp?) fight is still a lot harder on melee than ranged, who seem to be the favored DPS thus far in the expansion.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s it.

Agreed that the tornado is overused.

In fact, it is my opinion that Blizzard has gotten a bit lazy with some of the game mechanics in general. Having left the game before Burning Crusade came out and having returned only for Cataclysm, I’m surprised by how boring most of the equipment is now.

You struggle of high end cool blues and purples as a priest, and what do you get? Yay, +W to Intelligence, +X to Spirit, +Y to Critical Hit, +Z to Haste. Oh, and always a Stamina boost.

What happened to the old days, when weapons and armor would have cool procs, features, etc.? Now the game has become, “This monster has +X hitpoints, so here is a weapon that does +X damage.” Wash, rinse, repeat.

I want loot with style and flavor again. Aesthetics alone (like cool mounts) don’t cut it. I don’t really care what my character looks like, I care about the cool stuff they do in fights. That differentiation is lost when they basically admit that the game is now, “Grind normals until Item Level X, Grind heroics until Item Level Y, go raid until max Item Level.”

Admittedly this is on the PvE side, I don’t know if PvP is any better.

I still like the game, and I’m not running the entire thing down. But they could do with a bit more creativity in the equipment.

Also, as an aside, I think a lot of people are repeatedly running Vortex Pinnacle as a relatively simple instance with a chance to get a “kewl” mount of Altairus.

Actually, for that fight, melee have it easier. Ranged are supposed to be at melee range anyways in order to make it easier to get upwind when the wind shifts. And melee have an easier time doing damage while moving, which happens often during that fight.

But you’re right… overall, ranged has it easier in Cata.
