I believe the various children are unkillable.

No NPCs are killable inside Sanctuaries (Dalaran, Shattrath). And yeah, they can also just make their faction forever friendly to you as well, which would mean no killing.

Plus there are NPCs that when damage sufficiently simply disappear/go away rather than dying / fighting you till the end.

Transmorgrification ftw!. Coming in 4.3!!

Does it go ‘boink’ when you use it?

Oh, cool! I always loved the look of the bow from Karazhan.

Probably the single best change they’ll have ever added to the game.

So do you just set up an account with a different email address than you used for your former paid account or can you have different account names with the same email address?

I was also surprised to get a 7 days free offer this week. I thought the free to level 20 accounts replaced the limited time offers.

Agreed. The only downside for me is I think my general interest in the game has been exhausted at this point. It’s cool though for if/when I return.

Man, they really are losing subscribers.

Are there sex changes and complete race changes yet?

No need to set up a different account. The game automatically creates the ‘to level 20’ account for you and allows you to choose your normal account or that one when you login.

I’ve logged in and made a few lowbies but I’ve played all of the classes up to 20, most of them multiple times, so while it’s been fun to play for a nostalgia kick, it’s not enough to lure me back more permanently. The way Mark is playing is certainly an interesting approach but it’s veering toward ‘blood from a stone’ territory.

I like that they are adding appearance slots, finally. That it requires a fee and a trip to the NPC and limits you to functionally the same items makes it a bit clunky and limiting but they can always tweak the design later. The important thing is it’s finally going to be in the game (and after only seven years!)

And to answer pogo’s questions, yes to both.

Those have been in the game for a few years now.

I wouldn’t reactivate just for this, but it’s good to know that if/when I ever do reactivate, my Paladin Tier 5 is sitting in the bank, waiting.

My Tauren could have used this back in Burning Crusade. I don’t think it’ll work as well for my undead priest, though; the undead bodies are too thin and small for much to be distinctive on them. Maybe higher-tier gear works better, though; I never got around to getting much of it.

The big question is will they limit people to items they’ve previously equipped, or will we be able to use anything in the game that your class can equip in that slot.

It’ll be nice to have Benediction again on my priest, either way.

The ranged changes are pretty cool. You can visually and audibly turn a gun into a bow, etc. Since there is usually one highest damage ranged item and it can be either a gun, xbow or bow. Now you can use whatever model you want.

The official site says “Transmogrification encourages players to hold onto items with sentimental or aesthetic value, and the Ethereals anticipate that personal bag and bank space will be at a premium now that everyone will be hoarding their frilly pantaloons and leather jerkins.”, which would indicate you have to own the items.

It wouldn’t be a precedent because the Chinese government censors had banned any undead, corpses, or signs of death in games. WoW had a big make-up to appease Chinese censors.

The official article says nothing of the sort, however.

And would be really stupid.

I don’t see myself reactivating permanently, but non-twink low-level PvP might be fun now and then. Thanks for explaining how the accounts work, Creole Ned.
