The Raid Finder addition doesn’t even need to work for the current tier of content, to be successful. It would still provide an easier way to access other, simpler content. The lower level raids will be very popular to farm for a while after 4.3 hits, since people will want to go back and get gear that looks cool, to use for Transmogrification. Having a raid set up for Baradin Hold that automatically chooses 1 of each class would be of benefit there. If they can pull it off to make this cross-server like LFD is, having that much larger body of people to run with at any time will help make it possible to do these things more easily during the non-prime time hours.

You think people will come back solely because of the re-skinning?
Once they are re-skinned they have nothing to do again just like before they left.

I think a lot left because casual raiding was done for unlike in Wrath (Naxx, ToC and parts of ICC (at least up to Saurfang).

I might underestimate the pull of those re-skins though (Personally I don’t care much about how I look in any game and gear in WoW mainly was for me opening up killing harder stuff).

before LFD you had (and still do) daily lock outs on heroic 5mans, noone pays attention anymore cus if you do it through the LFD there is no lock out. It encouraged folk to join that instead of keep with server groups. I bet hands down that the raid finder will have no lock out (or at least not a previous tier lock out… leaving the new content to not be farmed just yet).

The reason for the raid finder is simple. It takes a tank , healer and 3 dps for a 5man. It usually takes a tank , two healers , and 7 dps for a 10man raid. So on so forth.
This gets the dps moving again. Simple math.

I agree that the next class is monk. Panderans will be neutral and teach us woodworking. We will make bows, staves probably some more relics to offset the inscriptionist monopoly (like how engineering got gears similar to gems). Possibly banners that buff /alter the group since these are already in the game via purchase.

I go so far to call the monk a healer/tank/dps hybrid similar to paladin cept wearing leather or cloth. The healer will be something like the bear shaman in conan, the tank will be weaponless and possibly wear the least armor. Dps probably fist weapons and be visually somewhere between a rogue and a shaman for animation.

Really minor update with Transmogrification, considering how long we have had the option of 2-5 Outfits in LOTRO, as well as cross-character Wardrobe to store these outfits, and RIFT allowed the same recently (albeit probably to a lesser degree).

The problem is that I need the inventory space in my bags/bank, and this change does nothing to solve that. I now have the option to transmogrify my Mace to look like another mace, but I still need to keep both maces around, in case I decide to go for the look of a 3rd mace, but then want to go back to the 2nd… Oh well, baby steps.

Maybe we’ll get a wardrobe as a “premium service”.

Pretty sure that’s what the “Void Storage” is supposed to fix. The description (It strips “Made by” tags, gems, and enchants) points to it being a storage light solution (They just store a pointer to the base DB reference, no item specific information per character, so massive space savings there), which means it’s for storing stuff that you want for sentimental reasons rather than actual gameplay utility. So either you have an alternate set of gear for transmogrification or, more likely, you go to the transmogrifier with the right gear, they swap the appearance pointer based on gear slot, and then you can drop the gear in void storage again.

Yeah, I created a new BNET account and used that to log in and, thankfully, it didn’t make me redownload the game again.

It’s a fun way to get a little bit of WoW in again and enjoy some starting content you may not have played, though worgen and goblin are not available. Since battlegrounds are mostly what I do when level capped, doing WSG is still fun. AB doesn’t pop much unless it’s the AB holiday weekend.

Hunters seem to be the best class at 20 in WSG. Pallys are good too. Rogues are always tough when they get the jump on you but they have to spend a lot of time in stealth.

You can also use honor points to buy a few BOA items, and even trade honor points for justice badges and get a few justice items. It doesn’t happen fast, though.

So with transmogrification can we make ourselves look like pirates? There’s a pirate hat and a pirate shirt. Can you make your plate chest look like a cloth shirt?

No, it has to stay as the same armor type.

Void storage is specifically for old armor sets. I dunno about weapons, but didn’t see them listed.

The 4.3 content peek hit MMO Champion yesterday. Looks like a lot of stuff, including Deathwing and a raid finder. No Abyssal maw, tho. They said the story was not “compelling enough.” 3 new 5-mans, including a COT one.

The items have to have stats on them too, so you won’t be able to use a lot of stuff like the purely cosmetic seasonal rewards. A friend of mine was disappointed since she wanted to run around knocking heads in in a wedding dress…

Finally! My cloth wearer will have non-robe options after level 65 or so. I might see my pants.

There are enough items in the game to dress yourself up like a pirate (just try to match the items used to make the appearance of your character when using Nogenfogger), but unfortunately I think most of them are cloth, so it won’t be of any use to the most pirate-like class (rogue). :(

Man, I was really hoping that Void Storage would be an “Account Bank” equivalent to a Guild Bank for all of your characters on a single server (or even just one faction).

So sick and tired of having to log onto the alt with what I want from their bank, then mail it to the alt that wants/needs it, then log back into that guy to use it.

So you could make your rogue look like a druid and vice versa. That’s kind of cool. I can see a lot of people rolling on drops they wouldn’t normally roll on just for cosmetic reasons, however.

Within reason. I believe they said you couldn’t transmogrify into a class-limited item if you’re not that class. So rogues couldn’t appear to be wearing Stormrage gear for instance.

Void Storage details.

Void Storage
In patch 4.3, characters of all levels will be able to take advantage of a new technology known as “Void Storage”, which will open up 80 slots of long-term storage space. Void Storage vaults will be available in both Stormwind and Orgrimmar and can be accessed simply by speaking with your local Vaultkeeper.

A variety of items can be placed into Void Storage — including soulbound items and Battle.net Account Bound items — making it the perfect location to store trophies from past conquests, as well as armor you may want to hold onto for Transmogrification. So, if you’ve been looking for a good home for those old tier sets or your vanity holiday items, Void Storage is it! And it’s as easy to use as dragging and dropping.

In return for this unique service, the Ethereals will require a small fee for each item deposited into or withdrawn from their Void Storage apparatus. Multiple items can be added and removed at once, and the cost of each transaction will be display at the bottom of the screen, updating dynamically as you select additional items to deposit or withdraw. Once an item is placed into Void Storage, it can remain there indefinitely for no additional cost.

It’s important to note that the goal of Void Storage isn’t to be a second bank, but rather a place where players can safely store items they wish to keep for the life of the game, either for sentimental or aesthetic reasons. Since this particular storage option isn’t really intended for belongings that you’d use a regular basis (like your current set of raiding gear, for example), any item placed in Void Storage will be stripped of all its enhancements, including enchants, gems, sockets, and reforged stats. This will help us reduce the impact such storage can have on the game servers, and ultimately allows us to provide a lot of long-term storage space with minimal impact on everyone’s play experience.

Ah, but because so much art is re-used, a rogue could farm Lunar-Claw Pauldrons from The Mechanar which have an identical appearance to the Stormrage Pauldrons. I didn’t check the rest of the set, but it’s probably a safe assumption that all the other models have also had their model re-used on a non-class limited item at some point.

I doubt this Transmogrification feature will bring back players who already left the game. It will be another way for people who are still playing to pass the time, though. With the new cross-server Raid Finder system, people will be able to jump into and quickly run an old raid to try to get a particular graphic of an item. It’s the sort of very casual “farming” that a lot of people like to do; and now there will be a specific reason to do so.

As far as overall subscriber numbers, there will no doubt be some people who come back just to kill Deathwing, if 4.3 seems like a solid patch. Long-term though, they’ll need some substantial additions in the next expansion to keep the numbers from dropping off again.

So instead of giving us a bigger bank that you pay once to unlock the slot and once to buy a new bag, we get a new bank that you pay for EVERY transaction…

Fkin wallstreet.

You get a place to dump old crap that you will never, ever withdraw again. The sole use of the item is to transmorgify which doesn’t even require you to remove it from that storage. What’s the issue?
