OK, yes, Burning Crusade kinda had some weird shoe-horned lore in there that didn’t make sense. Space Goats, Naga stealing all the water from Outland to use to… flood Azeroth?. And they also shoe-horned in the explanations for expanding which races could play which classes. Night Elf mages, Goblin shamans, etc…

But a lot of their stories and lore are still pretty compelling. I started actually reading the quests and was surprised to get sucked into it. In the past it was always “Just click accept and let Questhelper tell me what to do”.

Yeah, WoW has 7 years of MMO plus two RTS games and a bunch of books and in the end gameplay has to always come first so yeah, if you just look at the lore as a whole it’s a big mess. But in individual chunks I think they do pretty well so I’m cool with that.

Finally got the holiday meta today. Hard to believe it has been a year since I decided to try and finally get it. Not only got the dragon mount but finally learned 310% flying on the character.

Finished off Deathwing via raid-finder this weekend. What a nice way to let the rest of us play the content and get some ok gear. Even the presence of several true idiots could not prevent the groups I was in from completing every boss with no more than one wipe per. Including DW’s spine, surprisingly.

Just got the mount today (gryphon). It looks great, but what’s hilarious is that it disappears almost completely in shadowform, so it looks you’re riding the air, legs spread and rocking and everything.

My free seven days I really enjoyed. I bet I put in 30 hours. I know I had a marathon session on a Saturday running BGs all day. And while I felt like I’d sated my WoW appetite after seven days, I’d play it some more if I had more free days. I really wish I could buy a three-day weekend – Friday through Sunday – for $5. I would play it once or twice a month like that.

I think the naga were stealing the water as sort of a shake-down. Aside from Zangarmarsh most of Outland was short of water. The way I read it was that the naga wanted to steal all the water then enslave everyone who didn’t want to die of thirst. Naga are douchie that way.
