I used a combination of LoS and CC when I healed it on my Priest; I would use Fade to ensure that the mobs would still go to the tank, and shackle something nice and far out (generally a Rogue; those things hurt). Then I’d go back into the little cubbyhole.

I’m in awe that people on your servers know how to crowd control. Everything on blade’s edge is stack and aoe. I actually rather miss the CC dynamics of games like dark age of camelot where long sleeps were often required to beat groups of mobs your level.

The problem with CC is that every DPS has to not AOE for it to work properly, and they need to let the guy doing the CC move beyond them to get it done. In WotLK, it has always been easier to just shrug and let the tank handle it all. And most of the time, that got the job done.

Expect much wailing and gnashing of teeth tomorrow, when 4.0.1 goes live and all AOE (both for tanks and DPS) is nerfed to the ground. This is doubly true for bear tanks, whose new AOE ability Thrash won’t be available, since it requires level 81. Expect even more QQ once people arrive in Cataclysm dungeons, and find that trying to even slowly AOE most of the trash packs there simply provides a quick trip to the graveyard.

The LFD pugs are going to be so much fun

The thing is, is with Cataclysm dungeons, everyone is going to have to relearn how to CC, because they’re going back to the BC version of doing things, which most people seem to have forgotten how to do.

Oh, they don’t, but if you shackle a mob far enough out, people will be lazy enough to let it sit there while they burn down the mobs in the LOS’d corner.

I didn’t realize the patch was dropping tomorrow. I hoped I had a little more time to enjoy frost tanking on my dk.

I think one of the reasons they’re having it drop so early (more than a month to actual launch) is so that people can get used to the new dynamics.

Goodbye mods! It was nice knowin’ ya :) God I hope I remember to disable all of them.

I’m so glad I’ve weaned myself off a million mods. I’m sure some of the ones I have left will still work… it’s been fine on the PTR.

Some of them like Mik’s Battle Text I may not need anymore and some of them won’t work like they used to. So I’m going to go naked and then add in as necessary and functioning.

Nothing story-related in 4.0.1, correct? This is just the class and currency changes? Essentially this?

There won’t be any immediate story changes with 4.0.1. There are some in the patch data, though, and will start to show up… soon™.

I’m gonna use the patch as a chance to completely clean house and add back in only the addons that work absolutely perfect. Not going to bother troubleshooting which ones are causing problems and which aren’t this time.

Link to glyph changes from old to new.

Where are the AE changes described? The sound of that makes me sad; I’ve been an AE guy since DAoC.

Just check whatever class you play, they’re in there.

mmo-champion seems to have the most organized information. The talent trees are there too, don’t forget you have to reassign talents.

Oh and don’t forget bag replacements for those who are losing shards/ammo.

That’s a private doc.

Sitting at 2491 badges right now. I get my kids in bed about 10pm so I will have an exciting 2 hours trying to get 9 badges to hit the 2500 achievement before it becomes impossible forever.
