Not only that, but it pretty much halves the amount of raiding people with no geared alts at 80, like me, can do (at least in ICC and RS, I was thinking it was going to be all raids, but thankfully not). And I suspect it is going to dramatically lower the number of people that bother attempting 25 man. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d -love- per boss saves if you could still do both 10 and 25 man. But I don’t think the minor flexibility gained from the new system as is makes up for the downsides.

Yeah, I’m not actively raiding right now, but when I was, I was always doing both 10 and 25 ICC. The change is absolutely retarded.

Is the Horde ship in Icecrown supposed to be empty now?

So is anyone else missing enchants on the gear? I no longer have an enchant on my staff or gloves, but all my other enchants are still there. I’m also pretty sure I’m missing gems in my boots but I had just gotten them and don’t remember if I had bought gems and socketed them or not.

So I sold off a ton of the glyphs I powerleveled with yesterday for a few gold each, the remaining ones are now going for between 30-50gold. Bizarre. At least my timing for leveling inscription was good.

Yeah I am as well, which is highly irritating since they were expensive enchants.

There are no answers yet but Blizzard is aware of several major issues that have cropped up and are working on it.

I ran my downloader yesterday to make sure I’d have the patch today. It “completed” last night.

Two hours ago, I tried to log in. The downloader that said my patch was complete last night spent another 90 minutes downloading crap.

Then the patch updater kicked in. After 20 minutes, I’m out of space on a drive that once had 40GB free before I installed the Cata beta and this patch. Seriously? 40GB between the beta and this patch?

I move my Cata beta install to another drive. That’s another 10 minutes.

I try to load up WoW again, and it wants to check the entire 4.76MB patch again. There goes another 10 minutes.

Now the updater is trying to patch again. It’s at 5%, I’ve got 20GB and shrinking left on my drive, and this will probably run another 30 minutes. (Edit: looks like closer to 45-60 minutes, and who knows what’s after that.)

Patch days are fun.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I did an Ulduar run with some people in my guild tonight, and our arcane mage was doing way, way more damage than other people on a few fights. Like, 50% more on one of them. He’s one of our better players, but there were some other very skilled DPS along on the run, too.

All the changes in this patch make my head spin. I’m lost as to how I should be speccing and what my rotation ought to be. Despite this I seem to output substantially more damage. I soloed Chillmaw tonight in about 15 seconds without taking damage. The new graphics are very pretty and I can run the game at Ultra with high FPS. I love some of the ability changes, less so others, am mixed on a few. I really miss my addons. I really really really wish they’d held off on the 310% flying change until Cata itself hit like I’d been expecting. I wanted to be grandfathered in and save the 5k gold, and I was only about four achievements from an Ulduar 310% protodrake. The conversion of badges worked in my favor - I made about 450 gold and now have enough Justice Points for two pieces of t10 where I had badges for only about 1.5. On the other hand, I had about 1.5 war mounts worth of honor and now have slightly less than one. For some reason I seem to have a permanent Echoes of Lordaeron buff. Also, my warlock is missing, although my server shows me having 2 characters on it.

One person in my guild managed to lose a profession in the patch. Hopefully it is just a weird display bug.

So now that the game spent 90 minutes downloading a patch it said it finished yesterday, and then spent another hour patching my install, it wants to download another 1.3 GB.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Seriously, no one else had to go through this crap?

Sigh, yes as you pointed out you can queue if sub 4k gearscore often by having high gs gear in another spec. I’ve noticed that happen but I’ve had people who were almost brand new 80s get in there. I said I didnt buy you did it with all low geared toons. Anything is possible with skilled players and luck. Odds are you’ll crash and burn though, especially in a pug which is what I thought we were talking about for the most part.

Anyway, I don’t care anymore as I just found out earlier I got screwed out of my 310 proto drake by one boss because its 280 now. It still says its an extremely fast mount etc. on the tooltip though.

Oh and all the complaints about the “ability queue” scare me.

Sluggo, everyone had to go through that hell sadly. I had all the prepatch but the 72mb the released today, then you have to get the 1.2gb downloaded after that, though you can log in after it gets to a certain spot due to the streaming download setup now.

The durability change is nice, except that it cost me about 80g extra in repairs tonight.

I had the Mrs log in and run the downloader while I was at work so thankfully I was all patched up shortly after I got home. Just some quick observati-

UI changes - Many tweaks, I like the new windows, spellbook etc

Graphics - They must have tweaked up the graphics, everything looks nice

Hunter - I feel so spastic trying to deal with focus. It was starting to click at the end of a halls of lightning run, but with no one in the group having recount I had no idea how I was doing. Though most mobs just seemed to melt. Gained about 5k hps from the gear changes.

Mage - Went arcane again and my god the numbers popping up on the training dummy were crazy. Can’t wait to get this one into a dungeon and see how it goes. Though arcane missiles is kind of a weird proc thing now and didnt seem to do much damage wise.

Paladin - My latest alt is only lvl 32ish. I was distraught that they took away so many abilities and placed them up at later levels. Then I trained into Ret (which I had been using) and wow, they give you a lot of great stuff up front. Crusader strike and a couple new attacks based on holy power and I was able to spec into holy storm already. Didn’t get to try it out as it was getting late, but looking forward to it.

All in all it was pretty cool, though lots of little bugs that were pretty annoying. Most of the HoL run it wouldn’t let my hunter cast misdirect at all. Doing the fishing daily I had a lot of casts where I’d click on the bobber and nothing would happen. Felt like old style fishing where you just wouldn’t catch anything sometimes.

Guess we’ll see how it goes!

I don’t think the 1.3gb is mandatory for this patch, as I was able to play the game before it was finished downloading. I’m assuming it’s the 4.0.3 content, or part of it anyway.

They really messed things up with the gem conversions. I had several dreadstones (can’t recall which) of some sort on my warrior tank that converted to green gems and messed up my slot bonuses and meta requirements. I also lost my weapon enchant and possibly a few others.

I can’t say I’m really happy with the AoE threat generation changes. Between the loss of threat transfer with vigilance and all the rest of it, it’s going to be a lot more work holding mobs, even with Blood and Thunder (which is kind of a cool talent). I get that they want us to do more than hold packs with thunderclap and shockwave, but it still feels much harder even with tab-targetting through stuff. I think I’m finally going to give the TidyPlates Threat add on a try again now that I’m not raiding.

I’m also pretty sure it isn’t really a 1.3GB download. The first 250MB or so downloaded in about the amount of time I’d expect. The remaining portion of the download flew by much faster than I think my measly 5Mb link can physically manage. All told, I think I only spent 20 minutes waiting for the entire second patch.

Well, despite the bugginess of the patch, I’m generally enjoying all the changes. I’m only playing a ret pally right now, but despite what seems like a lot of hate/whining about the holy power system, I’m liking it.

No longer do I mindlessly mash buttons; I have to actually think a little and weigh my options in doing damage. Do I wait and slowly build up my power to unleash a lot of damage on a single target or multiple targets? Will my target(s) live long enough for me to build up that power? Or should I move on to another target and wait to unleash everything on it? It’s those kinds of questions I find I’m asking myself now that never really came up before.

I’m also getting a slight Disciple of Khaine feel (from Warhammer Online) with my ret pally now. There’s that Word of Glory ability that lets you heal using your holy power instead of mana, so healing on the front lines becomes a serious option now.

I didn’t play last night, I barely got enough of the streaming patch downloaded to get in the game and examine all the new stuff (and collect the gold from my 80s who had lower level badges converted to gold). So I have no idea how my damage stacks up versus prior to the patch. Heck, it’s gonna take me a week to figure out how to to set my UI back up the way it was (not to mention regemming, getting ahold of the glyphs I now need, figuring out what gear to reforge, etc, etc).

I’ve been levelling a Rogue for the past couple weeks. As of last night I’m level 51. I logged in and specialized in the Subtlety tree then played a few hours. I feel it’s ridiculously overpowered. Now, it’s possible I didn’t have the most efficient spec at the time, but when I logged out on Monday night, my Ambush criticals were doing around 800-900 damage. Last night they were doing 1600+. I ran around the Hinterlands all night killing things in two hits. Ambush->Eviscerate->Dead. Enemies just over my level might take another hit or two. Enemies half a dozen levels lower died to the Ambush alone. On the one hand, I’m sure this has been tested. (Are they rebalancing the 1-60 game?) On the other hand, I can’t imagine them leaving it like this. It’s not even fun. I mean, it is, but it isn’t. I just ran from one bad-guy to the next, slaughtering them all. (Shadowstep or whatever it’s called is pretty badass.)

I also noticed that Lockpicking seems to level itself now. That made my night. Didn’t see that in any patch notes.
