Anybody hear anything about missing equipment? The new patch enticed me to reactivate my account, but upon logging into my 80 priest I was dismayed to find that about 2/3rds of my nice equipment is gone.

This is a pretty big problem as the entire reason I reactivated before Cataclysm is out was so I could run through all the raids I’ve missed.

Do they duplicate the realm names across NA/Oceanic? Because I also play on Doomhammer, in the (no longer official) Ars Technica guild.

My biggest problem with the patch so far is that they removed the (Cat) and (Bear) bits from the names of the feral druid skills that have two different versions, so there’s no longer a way to macro the one you want. In my bear macro it kept grabbing the cat version of the skill, and in my cat macro it kept grabbing the bear version. Anyone else having a similar problem?

If you have a scribe, you should be herbing and inscribing your brains out. Prices are ridiculous right now, as people put together their glyph sets.

Also, if you are going to buy 310% flight, you can get a reputation discount in Valiance Keep, based on your Valiance Expedition rep. Exalted will bring it down to 4000g.

Think there has been a new blue post saying that you can still get 310% mounts before 4.0.3 and get the skill for free with them.

Nope.

Mount Speed in Patch 4.0.1

With that said, 310% speed is now solely obtained by purchasing the skill. All mounts now go the speed of your highest skill level. So if you happen to obtain Invincible now and have nothing higher than Expert riding, you will travel 150% speed. If you have Artisan riding the mount will be 280%. In order for the mount to travel 310% speed for anyone who obtains it after 4.0.1, you will need to purchase the new Master riding skill. Anyone who had a 310% mount prior to patch 4.0.1 automatically learned Master riding.

[…] There are no 310% mounts anymore. 310% speed is now obtained via Master riding, a new flying skill. All flying mounts are now only distinguished by aesthetics.

Inscription has made me over 20k gold in the last 48 hours. I was able to bank dozens of stacks of glyphs pre-patch and sell them in the initial fervor. Nine (and sometimes 18) glyph slots is a beautiful thing.

Now, newer scribes are driving prices for the easily-trainable glyphs down to more reasonable levels, although the days of sub-5g glyphs are mostly over thanks to the materials increase. Now, a glyph requires about 2/3 of a stack of herbs to make. That’s going to constrain supply and keep the market more restrained.

Dedicated scribes are being rewarded for all that research and book collecting. Researched glyphs like Anti-Magic Shell and Path of Frost are going for about 44g when the others are falling below 20g.

As Mad Hatter pointed out, not really the case. The doofus CM he quoted originally said something along the lines of “Yes! You can still get the mounts!” until people pointed out that, the poster wasn’t asking if the mount was still there, but wanted to know if you could get 310% riding from it.

It’s hard to believe a CM would be so blind as not to see that people, in general, could care less about the mount if it doesn’t give you free 310% riding. I’m also surprised they didn’t announce that the ability to get 310% riding from the mounts was going away in 4.0.1. I’m sure there are a lot of groups that were close to completing their metas that might’ve pushed harder if they’d known. And in the past they have announced when mounts would be removed from achievements or drops.

In other news, I took my ret paladin for a spin last night and this morning and feel a bit overwhelmed. I understand the basic principles of what I need to do, but there are a lot more decisions to make about what ability to use next now based off any number of procs, combined with how much holy power you have, or if you’ve hit either of the cooldowns. It’s a lot to try and process within a GCD.

I did remember towards the end of one run when I got hit with a knock-back to hit Judgment. Woo run speed buff.

In the amount of time and effort it takes to get a 310% mount, you could easily earn 4k gold. I got my 310% Black Proto Drake from Naxx Immortal before they removed the mount and it took months. I would have preferred to buy it plus I can get it on my non-raidy toons too.

As I said earlier, I powerleveled inscript the day before and had no idea what to sell herbs for. Market price was really low for trained glyphs and I had 1 discovered. I sold half my leveled stock the night before the patch for 1-2g each. Luckily I was able to relist the rest for 40-50g and made a few thousand on patch day.

Yeah, the first 48 hours were a bonanza for inscriptionists who were prepared, recently-leveled up, or (like me), just pack rats who had never gotten around to selling the glyphs they made while levelling up long ago. After the initial buying frenzy, the prices on the low-skill-level glyphs up are now not much more than the cost of the mats. It’s the glyphs that come only from research and/or books of glyph mastery that are still quite expensive.

Man, Inscription is truely printing money hand over foot. This was taken last night at about 10PM EST.

I had another 1000 gold when I woke up in the morning.

Edit: Also, I failed to prepare ahead of time, totally forgetting this was going live until I was at work Tuesday. Shrewd auctioning, if I do say so. ;)

Paladin and Warrior tanking are both very spammy now. For a Paladin, half of your GCDs are going to be Crusader Strike or HotR, then a third of the rest are your HP use-ability. That leaves two out of six GCDs for Consecration, Avenger’s Shield, Judgment, Holy Wrath, using your HoJ for an interrupt… I felt entirely GCD locked, even after I got used to the rotation.

Warrior, on the other hand… it’s just weird. The percentage of GCDs I use for Devastate is miniscule now, between Shield Slam, Revenge, Sword & Board procs from Revenge, Thunder Clap, Shockwave, and refreshing Rend when necessary… it’s kind of crazy.

Arrrgh. I knew I should have put more effort into my DK’s inscription. But I’d have to level first, since he’s only 64

I wouldn’t worry about it, prices are already dropping like crazy, I expect them to normalize in the next couple of weeks. There was a very tiny window for this opportunity.

I totally agree about plate melee being spammy as hell now. Tanking with my warrior is like playing Simon with how much shit triggers and procs.

I’m also not shocked they started to update classes…Mage/fire dps was HILARIOUSLY overpowered.

Some of the biggest seller glyphs are the ones that use low level mats. Like Arcane Shot and the Mage’s Monkey glyph. No one likes venturing into the old world to farm, and a lot of people forget about the ink trader in Dalaran. Even low level inscribers can make some gold if you play it right.

According to this post there will be no reimbursement for missing enchants. If your warlock pet got renamed it should have its old name after next week’s maintenance, but there’s still no answer on toons missing from your character list.

Isn’t it better to not bother with Shield Slam till Devastate gives you the proc?

Jeebus.

Noooo. You want to Shield Slam, then proc it with Revenge so that you can Slam again! :)
