On Soul Leech: I strongly don’t like it. I can see how in a perfect raid, with good healers, it would probably be a slight buff, but the problem is when you aren’t in that.
If you’re in a raid with bad healers or too little healing, you will slowly kill yourself without the ability to get back up. Yes, the same is somewhat true with most classes, but warlock also damages themselves with a number of their abilities. I favor the Demonology specialization, primarily because i like pet classes, and their mana situation just sucks. You need to use lifetap a ton in longer fights. You will also probably need to use the heal pet ability, which again, hurts you. Then there is just plain raid damage. Soul leech now does a nice job absorbing a hit, but after that, you still take damage you can no longer recover from. I prefer not to have to rely on having a pocket healer.
Since i now have some small experience with farming rare mobs i will attempt to teach others from my pains.
Murbella’s rare farming 101:
First, everything you do must be based around the knowledge that a rare is dead 5 minutes after being called out in general if you’re lucky.
Second, make sure you have a map of the spawns handy. You don’t have time to look where Goda spawns when the call goes out and nobody is going to help you in time to make a difference. Ideally you have a map addon that you can use to store the locations. I use carbonite which works rather nicely for this. Map can be found HERE.
Third, speed matters. Make sure you have a +run speed activated ability. Make sure you have a mount that can water walk. These two things can be the difference between getting credit for a kill and getting there just as the boss dies. Water walking is hugely important as with no flying and tons of mobs everywhere, you can avoid most of them for the bosses in the south.
Abandon what you think you know about rare hunting. You don’t have time to do other things. These are not like old rares where they have billions of health. They die in a few minutes. If you’re doing a quest in the west and a boss spawns in the east, you won’t make it. You think you want to go look for rare bosses? IDIOT! if you’re looking in the east and one spawns in the west, you won’t make it. Instead, you should camp in the safety bubble in the middle of the map, or on top of the prog spawn (can be trouble with opposite faction, but my favorite spot). These are central locations where you can easily get to any boss spawn. Then when you hear a call out, rush there as fast as you can ignoring everything else. This is critical! Always remember that nobody will wait for you.
For all of them except maybe one, you just need to hit them a bit. You don’t need the tag. Although they are faction specific tagging i believe, so do do your best to not let the other bastards get it. Don’t go out of your way to get the initial tag if it means dying. Not worth it. This also means if someone started the pull and you are nearby, it is worth trying to get there before it dies.
IMPORTANT: Loot is bugged most of the time. You will NOT be able to loot the bosses more often than not. Don’t panic, there are ways to fix this almost every time.
(in order of what i would try if able)
[ol]
[li]Try to loot the boss first. The problem seems to revolve around the game not knowing you can loot that specific enemy’s items. Generally, if you can loot hte gold, it will give you the items too. Obviously this is rarely possible because everyone else is doing it, but try.[/li][li]Attempt to run away until the body is no longer visible and run back to try again. This is kind of the general fixit solution in wow. It works most of the time here, but sometimes because of the area (such as the Mumta) you will not be able to do this easily.[/li][li]Relog. This is generally the most effective way to fix the loot bug. Pretty quick too, but again, sometimes you can’t do it if there are say… alliance assholes camping the body, angry that you got the kill.[/li][li]Pull an enemy over the body, kill it and loot it. This can be a pain, but if you kill something near the body, the cool area loot thing will kick in when you loot the enemy and you will be able to also see the boss’ loot. Use as a last resort.[/li][/ol]
