Yea, I play a disc priest, and I’m getting pretty tired of having to adjust to a new style of healing for the 4th or 5th time in the past few expacs/patches. A new 5-man would have been nice. Maybe next patch.

I don’t understand…you play for raiding and enjoy LFR. Did you miss how 5.2 brings a whole giant new raid that opens up in LFR next week? I’m not trying to be snarky, I’m just trying to understand why you’re focusing on the stuff you hate (dailies!) when there’s a new raid that looks pretty awesome (raid/LFR!).

Lfr isn’t open and what is open is poorly done?

I’m in a casual progression raid group (2 nights a week) and we already been in ToT which was great. But to get all that sweet 522 gear I want to max out my 1000 VP a week. Well, you aren’t going to get that done with just LFR and 2 nights a week of raiding. To get the rest I usually try and run my daily dungeon and scenario. Except, I’ve done all the dungeons dozens of times at this point. So I’m left running the same old dungeons over and over again with NOTHING new for me to do (I prefer group pve content) outside of the one new raid.

It is amazing how ignorant blizzard was with this patch.

The rare hunt is stupid. Tons of people semi afk in the middle of the map, waiting for someone to call out a rare spawn so they can rush to it. Is this the kind of gameplay they want to encourage, if not require?

Not to mention 5/6 rare mobs i’ve killed have been bugged, requiring me to relog to be able to loot. This is apparently a super common problem going by the people complaining.

I can only hope the raid itself isn’t done in such a half assed manner.

Lag looting has been a lag related problem since day 1 of wow. It will go away as less people crowd the area.

I’ve played wow nearly since day one, except for taking a break throughout TBC. I’ve never had to relog to be able to loot every boss. Hell, i don’t think i’ve done it at all. I’ve had bugs with need before green in raids, or loot assigning in general, but never like this.

They have the tech to spawn multiple copies of zones, to avoid overcrowding. Ppl in the same group always end up in the same one too. And yet they haven’t done it here.

Well, i am sitting here doing rares on isle of thunder. What that entails is i sit in the middle of the isle (my new favorite spot is on prog spawn point in the lizard form) and wait for a report of a spawn. When i hear one, i rush there hoping i get there in time. Luckily i have two monitors so i can have wow going on one and do stuff on the other. Truly the embodiment of quality gaming.

I’m not sure I’ve seen a positive post from you regarding WoW (and least not in the last several pages), yet you seem to play pretty hardcore. Have you considered another game?

Yes, he doesn’t like those, either.

I am actually not that hardcore. I do enjoy raiding, but i’m not in a raiding guild these days so i just LFR and do heroics, 99% with a friend who i came back to wow to play with.

Mainly though i’m not happy with the additions i’ve seen so far in this patch. One thing that hasn’t changed in my years playing wow is my dislike for rep grinding. Strangely though i didn’t mind the tiller/dominance rep grinds. The isle ones were fun at first but there is simply too many of them and they each give too little rep. I don’t understand why blizzard didn’t do the same thing as the other rep grinds and have 15 quests, 7 of which you get each day so that they remain semi fresh. Instead you do the same 15 quests each day for the same rep.

Another thing i dislike is hunting for rares, but blizzard basically made that the main activity of this patch. Pretty sure the cool warlock tome mentioned earlier is dropped from the rare mobs. I’ll never support a minigame that encourages, if not demands, semi afk camping.

I look forward to the release of LFR for the new dungeon. I would have liked to see more thought out daily quests, if not also some normal quests though.

While i’m listing things, i’m not too thrilled with some of the warlock changes, but since demonology was always my favorite specialization, it hasn’t affected me that much. Although I have heard reports of broken bosses in the new content instant killing pets. I certainly hope those are mistaken or else i will be forced to abandon demonology yet again. The nerf to soul leach making it a shield instead of a heal is probably the thing that pisses me off the most. We have a number of abilities that damage ourselves so it isn’t as equal a choice as it might have been for another class, since the damage shield doesn’t block the self damage ability.

Uh. The soul leech change is OP. And the only ability where that’s a major concern is burning rush…

“Doc, it really hurts when I smash my head up against the wall.”
“Have you tried not doing that?”
“But then I’ll be bored.”

Murbella, the answer is simple, take a break. You obviously are not having any fun.

Yeah, I’ve read that most people actually like the soul leech change. Folks are quite happy that it doesn’t lead to wasted overheal. As for the pet issue, that would be an unfortunate bug, because apparently GoSac is no longer a great option for any spec. I wouldn’t give up demo just because of that - you’ll have a pet out with detro/aff now too, most likely.

Ok, that I can understand. I haven’t run the 5-mans that much (and I still don’t do the daily heroic that often) so they’re not that bad to me, but I’m sure if you’ve been running them since day 1, they’re getting old now.

I got to revered with several of the reps this last week and I’m realizing something wonderful, there’s really no need to go to exalted with any of these reps. Golden Lotus rep was just starting to get really annoying for me, but now that I hit revered, I can move on to doing something else.

Yep, I started MoP about a month after launch, and while I’m revered with all factions across one of my two main characters, I’m not yet exalted with all of them. I just worked on them more as I felt like it, as well as based on need of lesser charms and valor. And I’m mainly wanting to hit exalted simply for the achievements, which is completely optional. Golden Lotus was a lot more worthwhile to hit exalted on as you received an ilvl489 necklace as the reward from the final quest. But now we have the much better ilvl 522 Shado-Pan Assault necklaces available for only 1250 valor.

On Soul Leech: I strongly don’t like it. I can see how in a perfect raid, with good healers, it would probably be a slight buff, but the problem is when you aren’t in that.

If you’re in a raid with bad healers or too little healing, you will slowly kill yourself without the ability to get back up. Yes, the same is somewhat true with most classes, but warlock also damages themselves with a number of their abilities. I favor the Demonology specialization, primarily because i like pet classes, and their mana situation just sucks. You need to use lifetap a ton in longer fights. You will also probably need to use the heal pet ability, which again, hurts you. Then there is just plain raid damage. Soul leech now does a nice job absorbing a hit, but after that, you still take damage you can no longer recover from. I prefer not to have to rely on having a pocket healer.

Since i now have some small experience with farming rare mobs i will attempt to teach others from my pains.

Murbella’s rare farming 101:

First, everything you do must be based around the knowledge that a rare is dead 5 minutes after being called out in general if you’re lucky.

Second, make sure you have a map of the spawns handy. You don’t have time to look where Goda spawns when the call goes out and nobody is going to help you in time to make a difference. Ideally you have a map addon that you can use to store the locations. I use carbonite which works rather nicely for this. Map can be found HERE.

Third, speed matters. Make sure you have a +run speed activated ability. Make sure you have a mount that can water walk. These two things can be the difference between getting credit for a kill and getting there just as the boss dies. Water walking is hugely important as with no flying and tons of mobs everywhere, you can avoid most of them for the bosses in the south.

Abandon what you think you know about rare hunting. You don’t have time to do other things. These are not like old rares where they have billions of health. They die in a few minutes. If you’re doing a quest in the west and a boss spawns in the east, you won’t make it. You think you want to go look for rare bosses? IDIOT! if you’re looking in the east and one spawns in the west, you won’t make it. Instead, you should camp in the safety bubble in the middle of the map, or on top of the prog spawn (can be trouble with opposite faction, but my favorite spot). These are central locations where you can easily get to any boss spawn. Then when you hear a call out, rush there as fast as you can ignoring everything else. This is critical! Always remember that nobody will wait for you.

For all of them except maybe one, you just need to hit them a bit. You don’t need the tag. Although they are faction specific tagging i believe, so do do your best to not let the other bastards get it. Don’t go out of your way to get the initial tag if it means dying. Not worth it. This also means if someone started the pull and you are nearby, it is worth trying to get there before it dies.

IMPORTANT: Loot is bugged most of the time. You will NOT be able to loot the bosses more often than not. Don’t panic, there are ways to fix this almost every time.

(in order of what i would try if able)
[ol]
[li]Try to loot the boss first. The problem seems to revolve around the game not knowing you can loot that specific enemy’s items. Generally, if you can loot hte gold, it will give you the items too. Obviously this is rarely possible because everyone else is doing it, but try.[/li][li]Attempt to run away until the body is no longer visible and run back to try again. This is kind of the general fixit solution in wow. It works most of the time here, but sometimes because of the area (such as the Mumta) you will not be able to do this easily.[/li][li]Relog. This is generally the most effective way to fix the loot bug. Pretty quick too, but again, sometimes you can’t do it if there are say… alliance assholes camping the body, angry that you got the kill.[/li][li]Pull an enemy over the body, kill it and loot it. This can be a pain, but if you kill something near the body, the cool area loot thing will kick in when you loot the enemy and you will be able to also see the boss’ loot. Use as a last resort.[/li][/ol]

Actually since the latest patch (for stage 2), it’s REALLY bugged. You can’t get the loot half the time.

Also, Oondastra has a loot bug, if you’re dead when he goes down.

While sometimes I can’t get loot at all, it has been the minority of the time. My server just reached stage 2 though and I’ve only done about 4 bosses during it.

None the less, I can’t believe blizzard hasn’t fixed this already and wonder if they plan to at all. Who designs a large patch around rare bosses which only drop loot and then lets critical bugs escape in it which makes trying to loot them a pain in the ass?
