I did come along a tagged near dead rare yesterday (a turtle). I think it had 19k health remaining.
I did hit it and moments later it died. Now in my battle log it said “You killed x”.
I guess that is a bug as there should be no way I got the kill hit with 5 people hitting on it or?
Thankfully if you do basically any damage to one of the rare monsters, you get credit for it.

Just a little surprising, but according to an interview with Dave Kosak, there’s are no new 5-mans planned at all for MoP. Looks like the bulk of the group content (for non-serious raiders) will all be scenarios and LFR.
So far I’ve only seen one rare. he dropped nice stuff, but not the warlock book.
Is that really the only way to get it? and why is everyone else rabidly camping these things?
So far as the questing goes on Thunder isle, it is getting easier now that I’m learning my way around, but still takes about an hour.
Why are non-warlocks camping em? Dunno. The “nice stuff” (key and stone) is once a week.
There’s the pet from the sentry, got that. The dagger from the silver rare, got that. No more killing rares until next week for me, even as a warlock. They’re only worth 15VP each, soo.

Murbella - As a demo lock, I suggest you don’t login or visit any of the WoW newssites or forums today…
-25% damage to multiple major abilities is a pretty big change for a hot fix. Saying nothing else of the changes, i think it is unhealthy to make such huge, sweeping changes, without any thought.
It remains to be seen if demo will still be decent with these changes. Already i think destruction was better. I assume someone forgot to tell ghostcrawler that demonology heavily uses both corruption and doom?
All of the changes they’ve been making seem to be focused around forcing every warlock to go destruction. I suppose this is ok. I prefer demonology, but destruction is ok too. I mainly just don’t really care for affliction. I was annoyed i was forced to go affliction before 5.2 and now i am annoyed that i’m forced to go destruction, but less so. Net positive i suppose.
It is somewhat annoying though. Finally, all three warlock specs were good enough that i could go any of them and not feel like i was being an asshole to whomever i was grouping with.
On the plus side, i will look absolutely badass if i ever get green fire while being destruction. Although demonology is the best for hunting rare bosses because of the leap.

I actually started up my warlock again just because of the ‘hope’ of green fire (I had no interest in it having only played demo before, but realized destro is fun!) so none of this affects me, but wow it seems like a kneejerk reaction.
Any luck with that? i’ve spent hours upon hours grinding away, trying to find it and am about to give up.
This patch has encouraged the moving forward of my previous plans to make a priest Alt. I nearly have enough heirloom gear to do it too, just a a couple thousand more Justice points.
Went destruction and it is a huge, significant improvement.
I have an extra self heal and unlimited mana (which means no lifetap), this means the absorb shield is MUCH better as destruction than as demo, since you don’t hurt yourself as much.
Shame about Demonology, but that is life.
Ah. Yes I’ve allways looked at it from Destro, as it’s my favoured spec. A little annoyed that sac isn’t the best anymore, given the observer’s noises are annoying, and the extra self-heal was neat.
(Although, come to think of it, I think the simc difference between the Observer and the VL is like 300 dps, so turning taunt off will deal with that…and you’ll get much bigger shields out of the sac talent…hmm!)

No, I haven’t even started down the green fire road - and likely won’t be at a point where I can even attempt it for a while yet. Which is fine, as the competition for the book or whatever should die down a bit. Destro is a blast though because dailies seem to be really straightforward - lots of no ramp-up DPS, combined with a handy tank.
Starlight - I think the fel imp is pretty close to the observer in power (assuming the imp doesn’t annoy you just as much). Odd that the voidlord is so close - that’s the first I’ve read that. Very cool if true.
I also heard that only one warlock can loot the tome, first one wins. So if you’re a warlock trying to get it, make sure you’re spamming that loot button when the thing dies. This is good all around advice for everyone of course as being the first to loot is the best way to get working loot in my experience.
I think i might start using the Shivarra as destruction. I don’t really like the observer, or the fel imp. I liked the felguard, but we know how that ended. It never sat right with me that the shivarra wasn’t the highest dps (non demonology) pet. Oh well.
Daagar - I’m talking about the simc results here - http://simulationcraft.org/520/Pets_and_Grimoires_-_Destruction.html
While the Fel Imp isn’t really significantly lower damage, and can heal it’s master, the problem is it has lower hp and if you’re using Sacrificial Pact, you get a smaller shield.
I’ve been very happy with dark bargain myself. has saved me many times.
I prefer sacrificial pact, so yea, slightly different priorities :)
my gear might not be good enough, but even my voidlord has 256,000 health (self buffed with dark intent). a 256,000 damage shield per minute is very nice, but if you get caught in some “YOU DIE” move, it won’t save you. Dark bargain will.
I think i will give it a try though.
I did the first part of the new raid today in a LFR. After waiting 40 minutes, i lucked out and found myself in a good group with geared, civil and well working people. Most of us didnt know the fights, but we were good enough general players to get by. We managed to clear it wiping once on the 2nd boss. I was kind of disappointed that it wasn’t harder. Don’t get me wrong, it was challenging, but i went in to this raid for rep, thinking i would wipe a bunch like the early days of sunwell.
Was very happy with destruction, although still wish i could be demonology.
I just got gold of course.
When is 5.3 suppose to hit?
I’m chewing through 5.2 solo content and I don’t even push that hard.
I’m 3500/12000 now with Sunspear (the new daily faction) and once I hit revered I can get the double rep boost.
According to my calculations I will hit Exalted end of next week.
Playing 1-2 hours per night right now (could be faster but I listen to podcasts while doing the quests).

I did the first part of the new raid today in a LFR…
I hit the Throne LFR last night as well. Took me about 45 minutes to get through the queue. My group wasn’t quite as good. Basically wiped on the second group of trash and had several other trash wipes. We barely managed to beat the first two bosses. On Jin’rokh, we almost had a 1% wipe, most of the group was dead for the last 3 or 4 percent, but managed to beat him. Horridon actually went better, but I think we lucked out because we lost our second tank some time after Jalak dropped and we still had 35-40% or so left and no battle rezzes. Council didn’t go so smoothly. The tanks didn’t really do a great job of keeping the low health boss away from the priest, and people were generally slow to switch to the loa so there was a lot of healing going on. The sand elementals also overwhelmed our group pretty quickly. I stuck around for two attempts before calling it a night.
Overall I like the first wing of the new raid. I think Horridon is the most interesting. I suspect I will come to like the Council fight after folks get to know it a bit and don’t ignore the loa. Jin’rokh isn’t that interesting, but not a bad first boss either.
It is a little boss-dependent. But I go through about 20 books a week as it switching…it’s just my default position these days is shield, not bargain :)
I need to do the LFR…
(And lost this week’s key run to a server crash, sigh)
Our guild’s best warlock has green fire now ofc. Grr.
