Still no joy from my MapCoords. It’s still out of date. The rare map was perfect, though. It got me to my second rare quickly. I even ended up VL tanking him, and got the book.
For the traps in the Black Temple, they were no problem for me. I just killed the two spectres at the entrance, dismissed my pet, used Eye of Kilrogg to see the traps, then leapfrogged through them with a series of demonic portals. There are several large, open areas that fit the portals no problem. There are one or two more prowling spectres I couldn’t avoid, but I was able to kill them easily enough without a pet.
The Order boss was actually pretty hard for me until I realized I was stupidly targeting the adds with AoE instead of just face-hugging the boss and blasting HIM with AoE. He dropped with little trouble after that. He was still a tense fight with a lot of movement and different things going on, though. Fun and challenging.
The trip out was no problem except for the final pair of doomlords at the exit. I lost too much time figuring out they were immune to banish and got popped. Running back though, I was still able to get through, since I had killed one of them and the other was far enough away not to aggro.
Nothing special about the trip to the back of the den of earthly delights. Kill, loot, repeat.
The final boss, though…oh, I’m gonna remember this guy, though I doubt I’ll remember his long, long name.
I’m on the imp phase now and clearly not using my portals enough. Kal normally doesn’t chaos bolt me, but tends to nail me just as I’m wrapping up killing the imps with a little help from the pit lord. I need to drop a little more aggro before that phase, as I got no way to stop a 450k chaos bolt as i’m wrapping the imps.
Murbella, I don’t think gear is really an aggro factor for this fight. Using demonic portals to jump around and clear aggro keeps the pit lord high on the aggro table. My Omen is out-of-date still, so I can’t follow aggro ATM, but I’d love to see that.
Also, if you move the pit lord out of line-of site behind the far pillar from the portal, the felhounds apparently need line-of-sight to dispel your enslave. I haven’t gotten to that phase yet, so can’t confirm if Blizz “fixed” that limitation.
Last, apparently there are only two felhound phases. After that you get a second doom lord and more imps.
One thing about this fight, no matter how long it takes me to finally get it down and clobber this guy (I don’t see an end in sight just now) I’m going to be a much sharper warlock when I’m done. That fight makes me use all kinds of abilities, mechanics, movement and aggro management. A lot of this stuff hasn’t come up in years (like banish or enslave). It’s great practice to be a better raider. Even better, this fight requires the lock to be on his toes more than just about anything else I’ve tried in the past few years. And it’s only going to last 7-14 minutes, tops, so the focus doesn’t kill you over too long a timeframe.
I just hope I can get him down before they nerf him. So far, about 15-20 wipes and I’m barely past the first imps, but I think that’s a portal aggro thing.
