Yay i finally got it. I was just about to leave the new isle to go do old raids in order to try to get my final token of power for my sha gem when i heard prog was up, and he dropped it! i felt bad for the other warlock there as i think only one drops, but thus is life.

Now i will only ever kill one rare a week for the treasure key.

Is anyone else having problems with the valor point cap now? There are so many new dailies that i am easily capping for the first time ever. I wanted to do them just to get the final boss chest, but i can’t force myself too if i am going to need to do 10 quests without any real reward. I wish vp gained from daily quests was transformed in to JP if you were maxed.

I got to Kanrethad. THis is indeed an INSANE fight.

You need to be a god of micromanaging a ton of things, have good gear and generally be good at your class. It is like a complex raid, but with just you and an enslaved demon. i just finished wiping on him about 5 times. It is a long fight with ZERO room for any mistakes. You miss up for a second and you die.

Now i am back with a fresh repair but still dont expect to get him tonight probably. That said, i think the fight is possible.

item level:486

There are plenty of reports of it being done at that gear level, but it does sound like a supreme challenge. I fully expect it to be nerfed into the ground long before I have the gear level needed to try :)

Oh i think it is possible, but the luck/perfection required to complete the fight, along with how long the fight takes, means it will likely mean a ton of wipes for the vast majority of players (including me).

The felhunter phase is the one that got me the last few times. i mostly have the strategy down, but if one of them is free for a millisecond, it will dispel your enslavement and then you lost the fight (impossible to recover from as far as i know). I also have huge threat problems, which leads me to believe that it might not be quite so gear based. Someone with lower iLevel would probably just be more agressive on the dps, where as i spend a lot of time not attacking. The boss attacking you is not an option as he has too many abilities that will hit one you.

The quest line was well done though. I’m not a fan of warcraft’s lore at all, except for maybe some sunwell/frozen throne stuff, but i enjoyed it. I do think the traps in the black temple portion are buggy though. After i was coming back from repairing, i ran in to another warlock outside the instance and we chatted a bit. It seems they had the same problems with the traps going off when you did not appear to be triggering them.

I suspect that your pet can trigger the traps, so if you’re strong enough to solo the enemies at this stage, i’d advise you not use one until you’re through them.

Grats on the book. I heard the fight is very difficult and more tuned for people with ilvl 500. If you are running into problems with the enrage timer i heard you can buy some purification potions to remove the curse of doom.

I hope they don’t nerf the fight too much cause i have no real interest in farming for the book. I’m basically just waiting till they are on the AH for 20k or if I happen to get it during LFR or killing rares for the key.

If you want to do dailies after vp cap just do the pvp ones they basically take half the time and you get the same bounty at the end.

I don’t see the prices getting better. It has an insanely low drop rate from rare mobs. as time goes by, i can only see people doing them less and less. I know i will only do one a week now to get my treasure key.

Only way i could see it is if blizzard upped the stupid low drop rate.

I don’t know if i agree with the iLevel 500 thing. My biggest problems in the fight have been “Do or die mechanics” (ie if your pitlord is too close and a felhunter notices him, you lose) and threat problems with the enslaved demon. Better gear would likely make the threat problems worse and wouldn’t really help the “Do or Die Mechanics.”

Although i’m not sure i would have hit the enrage timer. To be honest, i was too busy to pay attention to the time. I don’t think i could have done THAT much more damage without taking agro from the pitlord though.

The felhunter phase is seeming way too luck based. I managed to not get the enslave dispelled instantly a few times, but now i can’t do it at all. No matter where the pitlord is or if the felhunters are attacking the warlock standing on top of the gate, raining fire on them, they just dispel it and i lose.

I read about some people saying to fear the pitlord, but frankly, i dont think they’ve done this fight. The felhunters are strong, but not a super huge threat alone. However, the main boss does 500,000 damage chaos bolts, among other things. While the pitlord is not enslaved, he isn’t tanking the boss and thus i get one hit by these every time i tried the fear strategy.

I think blizzard stealth “fixed” the encounter so the felhunters dispel your enslave no matter what. Nothing i’ve tried to do today to prevent it has worked at all. Not sending the pitlord across the room, not tanking them immediately, not turning them away from it.

I almost had it now but i got disconnected. I had managed to move the pitlord in one direction from the portal and i went the opposite so i had a little time to deal with the felhunters before it got to me. Popping a bunch of defensive abilities and massively abusing portals (which this fight is all about) helped me avoid instant death by the boss.

It’s intentionally very rare right now. They’ve stated they’ll increase the drop rate as time goes on to allow more people to get it.

None of my map coord addons appear to work any more, which makes hunting rares a lot harder for the warlock book. Mostly I seem to just find corpses.

I ran the new LFR hall, and thought it was a fun raid, especially the last fight with the multiple bosses. Some of the trash was kind of interesting too.

I’m finding my way around Thunder isle better now, so the dailies are quite as tedious. some of them, though, like smash the 150 roaches, are just awful.

Yesterday I wanted a change so went to Dino Island. Not seeing anything along the shore of Pandoria I just flew out, through a bit of fatigue, and got dumped off my mount just a short hop away from the flight point. This also appeared to be a really popular place for pulling Oondasta, so I jumped in one of the groups for that. About a dozen or more deaths later I got a new achievement, but no loot. Fun fight with all those people involved, tho.

On dino Island, I’m a bit confused. It doesn’t seem to be a quest hub. Is it all just about Oondasta and collecting dino bones? And where is the turn-in for the bones if that’s the case? There’s no hurry, I have a whopping 100 bones out of the 9999 required for the raptor, but it’d be good to know.

I use MapCoords. Very lightweight addon :)

And here’s an out of game map;

Dino Island is totally about collecting bones. There’s a guy in a cave to the mid-left of the Isle.

Cool, I’ll check it out. Thanks.

BTW, on dino Isle I found the baby triceratops I could handle fairly easily. The baby trexes, though, chewed up my voidlord like he was some kind of creampuff.

Try using the Overgrown Lillypad’s heal on the VL. I think that’s a gear issue.

You can kill the big ones solo. For example, kiting them in the water with the swim speed minor glyph. But is it worth it? Um.

Pvp Gear - What the fuck are Blizz smoking? I can’t really put in any other way.

Pre-5.0 “This will bring back world PvP”
Pre-5.3 “Oh hey we’re killing world PvP”

Perfectly fair question. As far as I can tell, the PVP gear situation has been a clusterfuck all through Pandaria. Entirely the reason I haven’t logged on in over a month.

Hm since it was bumped:
Exalted with Sunreaver Onslaught
Exalted with Black Prince (which gives me exactly nothing as a non-raider not even an achievement)

Waiting for Children’s Week End of April and the unlocking of the rest of the Isle of Thunder and then I will unsub until 5.3.

I was holding out hope that 5.2 would add something I gave a damn about. No such luck. I guess I should log in and make sure there’s no unclaimed mail in my characters’ inboxes.

Still no joy from my MapCoords. It’s still out of date. The rare map was perfect, though. It got me to my second rare quickly. I even ended up VL tanking him, and got the book.

For the traps in the Black Temple, they were no problem for me. I just killed the two spectres at the entrance, dismissed my pet, used Eye of Kilrogg to see the traps, then leapfrogged through them with a series of demonic portals. There are several large, open areas that fit the portals no problem. There are one or two more prowling spectres I couldn’t avoid, but I was able to kill them easily enough without a pet.

The Order boss was actually pretty hard for me until I realized I was stupidly targeting the adds with AoE instead of just face-hugging the boss and blasting HIM with AoE. He dropped with little trouble after that. He was still a tense fight with a lot of movement and different things going on, though. Fun and challenging.

The trip out was no problem except for the final pair of doomlords at the exit. I lost too much time figuring out they were immune to banish and got popped. Running back though, I was still able to get through, since I had killed one of them and the other was far enough away not to aggro.

Nothing special about the trip to the back of the den of earthly delights. Kill, loot, repeat.

The final boss, though…oh, I’m gonna remember this guy, though I doubt I’ll remember his long, long name.

I’m on the imp phase now and clearly not using my portals enough. Kal normally doesn’t chaos bolt me, but tends to nail me just as I’m wrapping up killing the imps with a little help from the pit lord. I need to drop a little more aggro before that phase, as I got no way to stop a 450k chaos bolt as i’m wrapping the imps.

Murbella, I don’t think gear is really an aggro factor for this fight. Using demonic portals to jump around and clear aggro keeps the pit lord high on the aggro table. My Omen is out-of-date still, so I can’t follow aggro ATM, but I’d love to see that.

Also, if you move the pit lord out of line-of site behind the far pillar from the portal, the felhounds apparently need line-of-sight to dispel your enslave. I haven’t gotten to that phase yet, so can’t confirm if Blizz “fixed” that limitation.

Last, apparently there are only two felhound phases. After that you get a second doom lord and more imps.

One thing about this fight, no matter how long it takes me to finally get it down and clobber this guy (I don’t see an end in sight just now) I’m going to be a much sharper warlock when I’m done. That fight makes me use all kinds of abilities, mechanics, movement and aggro management. A lot of this stuff hasn’t come up in years (like banish or enslave). It’s great practice to be a better raider. Even better, this fight requires the lock to be on his toes more than just about anything else I’ve tried in the past few years. And it’s only going to last 7-14 minutes, tops, so the focus doesn’t kill you over too long a timeframe.

I just hope I can get him down before they nerf him. So far, about 15-20 wipes and I’m barely past the first imps, but I think that’s a portal aggro thing.

For this fight you need to abuse the hell out of the portal for los and agro loss.

For the imps, make sure you use your soul shatter right as he is summoning them. Also make sure to use portal at start.

I heard about the los method on felhounds but sadly have been too busy to try it.

To do the los thing, you probably need to place your portal with it in mind so you can teleport your demon away. I know from to much experience that he is too slow to run it unless you tell him to start way early which causes threat problems.

I saw a video where he just trundled to cover. The portals were placed near the center of the grate and near the portal, respectively. Just run the pit lord when kal starts summoning, and it should reach cover in time.
