Don Adams is dead? Yeah, he was 82. Still, hard to believe.
I used to love watching “Get Smart” when I was a wee lad.
A great big posthumous “Thanks!” for all the laughs, Don.
I suppose at 82, it isn’t surprising, but it’s still sad. Get Smart was one of my favourite shows as a kid. And watching it in reruns, I still get a kick out of it. I’ve always wanted a shoe phone. The cone of silence, not so much.
Erik is vindicated, looks like. But for my part, I liked the guy, so good luck with your next venture, Don.
I have yet to laugh at one word written by Douglas Adams, while Don Adams in service to Mel Brooks and Buck Henry has made me laugh out loud for over 20 years.
Here’s hoping they finally get around to those Get Smart DVD sets.
Get Smart was a perfect example of “so stupid it’s funny”. Watching Max and the Chief shouting at each other while using the cone of silence is something that cracks me up every time I see it.
Is there a DVD collection of Get Smart? I loved that show. Dunno if I’d sit through a whole season though.
QUOTES!
Agent 99: You met the president! What’s he like?
Maxwell Smart: Everything you’d expect!
Agent 99: Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.
Cmdr. Drury: Smart, you appear to be in pretty good shape, do you work out?
Maxwell Smart: I jog 100 miles every day! Would you believe it? 100 miles!
Cmdr. Drury: I find that hard to believe.
Maxwell Smart: Would you believe, 50?
Cmdr. Drury: No!
Maxwell Smart: How about two push ups and a deep breath?
Shtarker: Let me let them have it. Dudududududu (making a machine gun noise).
Siegfried: Shtarker, zis is KAOS, we don’t Dududu here.
Ah yes, Siegried. What a great villain to head up KAOS. Too bad he wound up his career on the Love Boat.
