Xbox One controller - any way to see battery level over Steamlink?

Dumb question and I’m sure the answer is “that is not possible”. But will ask anyways:
I have Xbox One Controller but no Xbox One as it is for Steamlink and Steam Big Picture play. This is not a new controller, but an old one where you’re forced to use your own batteries.

Is there any way to see what the battery level is? I’m not even sure how I know if the batteries are dying. Will the controller work just fine right up until it shuts off due to no juice like PS4 controllers?

Thanks! :)

I don’t have a One controller but I know that if you hold down the Xbox button on a 360 controller that usually brings up a battery indicator.

I don’t have a Steam Link, but on an Xbox One, pressing the Xbox button brings up the battery indicator.

I don’t have a Steam link or a One controller, but I read in this thread that holding down the Xbox button brings up the battery indicator.

Why has no one mentioned Populous?
