Still having no Bluetooth headset support is a bit disappointing.
The latency of Bluetooth audio is terrible thoughâŚ
Iâm not really knowledgeable in the technical aspects, is Microsoftâs own wireless standard better in that regard?
There are only a few headsets that use Microsoftâs wireless protocol for audio. Those have a lot of complaints about audio dropouts. The successful wireless solutions are proprietary, using a USB dongle on the console to send audio.
Thatâs helpful, thank you!
So, you guys remember the memes about the Series X being as big as a fridge right? Well ⌠the bastards went and did it.
Iâm surprised they donât have it flanked with giant XSS speakers
Love how the X lights up, and the interior lighting is a nice touch.
Iâm guessing if Sony did the PS5 in the same scale it would be the size of the garage.
I know this makes me officially an old man and all, but who or what is an ijustine? And why does she get an Xbox fridge? I kind of get Snoop Dog getting one, but who is this?

Sheâs a YouTuber, a gaming personality, a regular participant on This Week in Tech/in Google. Sheâs been around forever. She was also featured on one or 2 of the YouTube best of videos at least. She has a big following. In other words, you are indeed an old man. But hey, there are many celebrities I donât know either. :)
LOL itâs only a fridge you still need the external hardrive Icebox to make the thing complete.
I continue to fire up my 360 on Saturday and Sunday mornings to play some Rock Band 3. And it really reminds me just how much I loved moving to Xbox One just for the zippiness of the dashboard and loading times. The 360 dashboard, in its final form even today, is sooooooooo slow. It takes forever to just load the dashboard. And then I select âRecentâ so that I can launch Rock Band 3, and it takes soooooo long to finally bring up a list of games so I can select Rock Band 3.
I remember being so happy with the Xbox One for how much faster it was at everything, and how quickly you could load up Netflix and Hulu apps in comparison to how long they took on the 360.
Whatâs weird about this transition is that Microsoft have made the Xbox One interface just like the coming Series X|S interface already, and itâs become super super fast in comparison to how it was for most of the generation. The XB1 interface is so fast and zippy now, maybe I wonât be that impressed with a faster interface this time around. I also love the new interface itself, but again, itâs been spoiled for us by being on the XB1 already.
Sony has done something similar, theyâve changed their older games so that load times are much lower even on PS4, even without an SSD.
First games mentioned Valhalla and Cyberpunk. Poor Craig :)
The 360 had all of 32MB of RAM available for the OS. And the original Blades UI may have been fast, but they kept iterating and overhauling the UI multiple times during the 360s life.
The nice thing about the 360 was it booted up quickly. The Xbone sucked up a lot of wattage in its âstandbyâ mode, so I always chose the power-saving option. Takes forever to boot up from that. Even the XboneX.
I have one of the Turtle Beaches with the dongle that worked great for like 6 years. Eventually something inside the headset broke and now itâs stuck at max volume, always, and itâs painful to use. I replaced it with a Turtle Beach that has no dongle, and it gets wifi interference on the 5 GHz band. Audio gets distorted, chat cuts out, it sucks. Thereâs no good answer either because I live in an apartment building. Itâs supposed to auto-scan for the best channel. Some nights itâs fine, some nights itâs unusable.
I wish there was a way to repair the old one!
Another excuse to give Just Cause 3 one more try, I guess. Remember those god awful load times between each try on their challenges? I wonder if those will be really short now?
I love that console gamers will get the experience PC gamers get from a GPU upgrade. Plus the SSD stuff too. Happy Christmas XBoxers :)
