Today I learned that Xbox serie x games and Xbox one x games will come in the same box. Not a different box for each platform.

Isn’t it the same disc too?

Only for smart delivery titles. Otherwise it’s this shitshow:

I don’t know why, but that’s breaking my brain.

I haven’t bought a physical copy of a game in years.

I honestly wished that they had released a discless version of the XSX.

Again, I’m not seeing the issue. It’s purposely the low-end model. You don’t see Apple stuffing their low-end iPhones with massive amounts of NAND. For the longest time, they were giving you the absolute bare minimum. That’s how the mid-range model becomes the top-seller.

If you want more, buy the higher end model. Or use an external HDD to storage games you’re not playing.

I don’t really buy physical games anymore either, but I’ve got a crapload of Xbox and 360 games on disc that, thanks to MS’s attitude on BC, I can still play.

Agreed. People who are ‘core’ gamers keep looking at the Series S through their eyes. Its not made for them. Its for the causal gamer who isn’t ever going to want 10 games installed at once.

See… to me, I feel like the problem here isn’t that the HD’s are too small. It’s that the COD games are way too fucking big.

Like… other games don’t have this trouble. And the excuses I’ve seen for why COD:MW was so absurdly large didn’t make any technical sense.

This is an interesting point… I still got a bunch of old 360 games too, from back when I bought discs.

Of course, I also have gamepass ultimate going for the next 3 years now ($5 a month, yo!) and I think a bunch of those games are on there already.

red dead, destiny, cod, all are north of 100gb. Not that bloat isn’t a problem, but they are far from the only game having the issue.

in other news, got my shipment confirmation from MS, will be here on launch day by 4:30pm EST

COD:MW on the PS4 is almost 200gb.

And that means that to download patches for it, if you’re on the original PS4 HD… you basically can’t have any other games on your machine, because you need to have twice the installed size to install the patch.

I think the answer here is not to play COD.

…

For call of Duty Games and their piggish size pushing 250+ GB.

That was the part left unsaid in the Tweet.

My Series X has shipped! With a “hold” on the package via FedEx, I presume to make sure I don’t actually get it until launch day.

Is anyone else going through this? Every time I turn on my XboneX to play something I’m just… underwhelmed? I think ‘I should play that’, but then think how it’ll look so much better next week on the XSX. Or it’ll bee tool long, and don’t want to drop it in the middle tonplay The Falconeer or something.

I did fire up Carto via GP., and man is it waaaaay too simplistic. I got up through chapter 6 or something, hoping it’d get more interesting, but nope, not happening.

Oh man, I feel flooded with awesome stuff to play. They dropped Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango last Friday on Game Pass, so I had a LucasArts marathon over the weekend. My son wanted to toy with a couple of Five Nights at Freddy’s games so we’ve done a bit of that, and I just started Carto myself. I’m enjoying it, it’s like a weird mashup of Zelda with a single player Carcassonne.

I should play though those old LA games again- haven’t done that in 20 years. In fact, it’s the perfect season for Grim Fandango…

I find myself thinking this way. Unlike you, I don’t even get to the part about firing up games on the Xbox. I just mentally picture myself playing something and think “naaaaa”, it doesn’t feel right to play it now. Might as well wait until next week and play it on Series X instead.

I would share your dilemna, but I traded my XboneX for $205 off the XSX.
