Great news!

Well, I figured I’d check out the status of my Xbox today and it’s … still in Ontario. Come on Tuesday!

That’s my Xbox. You’ve got the wrong tracking number :)

I’m surprised yours is here. Usually MS stuff always gets shipped up from Memphis-ish.

I don’t know, maybe west coast people get things from a west coast distribution center? I haven’t bought a lot of stuff from the MS store.

Yeah, mine shows Ontario too. That’s not too far away, so hopefully it ships quickly.

Goddamn Walmart

BUT THAT’S IN CANADA /s

Really? Walmart hasn’t even charged me yet, so I think the likelihood of it happening to me are low.

Upcoming Gamepass title has been delayed due to COVID and Cyberpunk 2077. Originally announced in 2012 for the 360, PS3 & WiiU, now it’s an Xbox exclusive (also coming to Steam).

The Medium is a psychological horror game played in third-person as Marianne, a medium who can travel into the spirit realm. Being able to inhabit both worlds aids puzzle solving. Her psychic abilities may also be used against hostile forces and are recharged by interacting with energy spots called spirit wells.

1-10, wait until next year because it’s impossible to get one.

I ordered the console from Amazon and the Seagate Expansion SSD from Best Buy. I got an email from Best Buy just now. I’m supposed to have the SSD on Monday. Better early than late, I suppose!

Also, games that don’t let me install them on external drives can die in a fire. I moved my internal games to external last night and 4-5 wouldn’t move.

That’s super weird. Remember which ones?

I’ve never encountered a game fail to install to an external drive on Xbox one. Maybe the drive itself is bad?

I had that problem on my old X1S. Internal drive was going.

Error was surprisingly unhelpful. “Something went wrong” iirc.

I thought it might be a drive issue at first, but I have two external drives and neither let me move the games. Battletoads is one and one of the Van Helsings is another. I think they’re all Game Pass games.

So she mentions buying a gaming headset so you have access to good sound. Is that something special? Do certain headsets have special hardware, or just grab my headset that I have for my PC bought in 2005 or so and hook it up, and that will do the same thing?

I never install games to the built-in hard drive, so there’s definitely something strange going on there. Maybe try deleting and re-downloading one with your external drive set to default (Settings -> System -> Storage)?

On the Xbox good sound is good sound. You can enable Windows Sonic (free), Dolby Atmos for Headphones (paid), or DTS:X (paid) for better surround effects in your headphones. Because these 3D audio solutions are software based you don’t need any special hardware.

Are you using an enclosure by chance? Maybe the enclosure or the usb cable is going bad?

I messed around some more tonight. I guess it must be the drive. I didn’t think it was because I thought I also had trouble installing to my second external drive, but that wasn’t an issue tonight. When I first started experiencing problems in early summer, I ran diagnoses on my drive on my computer with nothing coming up. Maybe it is a cable issue or maybe I’m just jinxed. :)

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions!
