And you got a new console? Shouldn’t your gaming just consist of banging two sticks together with that old mule?? /s

Pong must look great.

I shall call him CHONK 🙂
All boxes checked!
4K 120hz with VRR
Dolby Vision and Atmos

What idiot at Sony decided not to support Atmos even for video streaming and disks???

Have you actually test Atmos and Dolby Vision for streaming and disks?

I’m going off of people who actually have:

That grid says no DV on Blurays…

EDIT: and PS5 media features are still under embargo, so no one knows those details for sure.

The Series X has this store bug I never had before. If you choose to filter reviews the filter pane stays on the right side of the screen and won’t go away, the only way I can get it to go away is to reboot the console.

It’s here! Now to let it update and download while I wrap up work for the day.

Ive had luck 3 times now at the MS store the last 2 hours getting an XSX into the cart and checkout but every time It wont let me purchase…assume Im just slow even Im going as fast as i can…so annoying.

Really interesting interview with Phil Spencer, especially about picking up the pieces after the Xbox One cratered and Don Mattrick took off for Zynga.

The Xbox S is also surprisingly dense.

Finally got mine! Time to get to downloadin’.

Impressions of the Series X: I like it. It feels very familiar, and yet better. The controller feels better in subtle ways, the console feels faster. Everything runs smoothly.

I was surprised during setup that there was not only an update for the console, but also an update for the controller. And that the controller update took longer.

The Series X is surprisingly heavy, as people were saying. I really like the look of it. It looks great.

The Falconeer is a bit perplexing so far. I think it’s an open world game, but with missions, but that’s not immediately clear.

Tetris Effect Connected is awesome. I’ve only played Tetris Effect on PS4, so it’s not a fair comparison with the previous Xbox, but it just felt better in my hands in terms of the “pulses” in the controller and the visual presentation being 100% smooth all the time. Great stuff.

I did try to experience 3D audio using a headphone, but the only place I can find to plug in a headphone is the controller. And when I do that, and switch off my receiver, the audio that came through the headphones during Tetris Effect was really low volume, and it was missing most of the sounds from the game. Only the high pitched notes were coming through, and at a fairly low volume. So 3D sound is a bust for me I guess. Still, the sound is pretty awesome in Tetris Effect when fed through the HDMI converter thingie.

It looks great in its natural vertical state. But on its side, it’s like a beached whale; like something that was never meant to live on land.

While not having one in my hands, that is what my impression has been from everything. I will keep mine upright like all upstanding citizens should whenever I get around to purchasing one.

I forced my TV to output 1080p at 120hz. Let’s see if I can find something to try 120 fps gaming. I like the Touryst but can’t really tell frame rate on this sort of game.

Did Stellaris leave Gamepass? That’s annoying.

I’m still seeing Stellaris: Console Edition on Game Pass.

It’s everything that I want in an Xbox. The Xbone and XboneX always had little lag just navigating the store or the menus. But now everything is absolutely, positively responsive. Even playing games off an HDD feels faster.

It looked like I had to buy it? Let me check again. Oh I have to select the base one even though it doesn’t list it on Game Pass on the front end. Thanks!

Man yeah, everything is just super zippy with this thing. I’m going to install a lot of older stuff to see how improved loading times are. And all that auto HDR!
