I don’t see why the Series X doesn’t qualify now.

The XSX is for all intents and purposes a gaming PC… although there are games that are released for the PC that wouldn’t be on it.

It would be just fine for that, apart from missing PC exclusives. If those aren’t a priority for you, then it’s a great choice. Definitely convenient plug-and-play, and the performance will be better than a PC at the same price range.
Has anyone tried buying Microsoft Complete for Xbox through the Store? I can get the listing, but it has weird error messages when you try to buy.
I wonder if they’re not offering it for XS?

Just keep in mind that Xbox games are designed to use Controller instead of Mouse and Keyboard. So depending on your preferences and the type of game, that might be a bit annoying.
You can easily plug a USB Keyboard into an Xbox Series, but unless games are specifically designed to support it (and some are), you’ll only be able to use it to type in text entry forms.

I guess that’s where I was going with it. I’d love to see them take it a step further and try to support M&K games + most of what runs on a modern PC.
This is the most complete list I’ve seen. It’s not a lot. The Paradox games use custom UI for consoles and controllers - they don’t have any KB+M support sadly.

Call of Duty being on that list is surprising, since multiplayer first-person shooters are the biggest reason to not offer KBAM support on consoles.

See, here’s the thing… I kind of don’t want to play shooters against folks who are playing with a mouse and keyboard, if I’m playing with a controller.
And I play my console because I’m sitting on my couch, and don’t want to be using a mouse and keyboard.
A KB+M is just too significant an advantage. Although I suppose it’s better than folks who run a XIM on a console, and get the benefit of a KB+M while ALSO getting the autoaim benfits of a console.
I believe you can segregate yourself in CoD to not play with KB+M users.
Call of Duty and Fortnite are cross play, so they lump the keyboard players and controller players together by default, rather than separation by platform. Fortnite even has a separate pool for touch control players, the poor bastards.

Well, in CoD, I know that I can see how people are controlling their dudes, as well as what platform they are playing on (although I always disabled cross platform play).
On my Xbox One X I never saw more than ~200Mbps throughput on downloads. With the Series X I’m getting ~450Mbps pretty consistently. Nice upgrade by itself!

That seems weird… I wouldn’t think that the bottleneck on download speed would have been the system itself.
The I/O on the Xbone family SUCKED. It’s why adding SSDs to them gave marginal improvements.

I think it’s because presumably anything downloaded is compressed. Decompressing takes a fair bit of processing power. Series X has much more processing power so it can decompress faster.
Microsoft said something to this effect, but I can’t find a reference for it.
If the ping pong ball story is fake, I hope the stories of people with smoke coming out of the top of their Series X on twitter are fake too.
You know what isn’t fake? Someone finally made a proper Gamecube stand
