Maybe half that, I’d say. I keep mine on power saving setting just because it’s so quick to get up and going.

Ooh, Stalker 2 news!

So many gamepass games…Octopath Traveller on PC!!! I heard that was a good old school console rpg… jeez.

Oh and then Outriders and Squadrons too?!?

Hey all, I went ahead and “blessed” my controller as being the one that’s supposed to automatically sign me in to my Xbox Live profile, so why does it keep asking me for the passcode every time? Did I screw it up and forget to save or something?

Thanks to all of you - This worked, and the games now looked much, much better!

Who knew that actually reading instruction manuals was neccesary in these days?!

Conan still runs horribly, but that seems to be the game. Thankfully I¨ll just use my PC for that once it arrives.

It looks like Digital Foundry rather likes the new Xbox headset!

From that review, this part really sounds brilliant.

Another highlight are the controls - rather than messing about with small, hard-to-find dials or buttons all crammed into a single earcup, Microsoft has made each ear cup into a massive volume dial. The left earcup allows you to adjust the mix between your Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless sources, while the right earcup adjusts the overall volume. The fact that the entire earcup is a control means you never struggle to locate the right dial, and you can dial up or down the volume accordingly even in a the few seconds of respite you’ll be be awarded in a heated Warzone match. Both dials have fixed start and end points, rather than rotating freely, and the left earcup has a notch in the centre of its rotation, so you get that proper physical feedback that you’re at maximum volume or that you’ve balanced the two audio sources evenly, which I love.

Can you charge eneloops while they are in the controller?

If you have more than a pair of them, then yes. They can sit in the charger and charge while you’re using the other pair.

No, that’s why you need at least two pair. As Rock8man says, you’ll always have a pair in the rotation.

I tried them last night in my new bedroom tangle-up with a TV, (it’s been decades since i’ve had a TV in the bedroom).

Basically my only first impression is wow, these things squeeze your head. I have been using some el cheapo but relatively decent Sony’s, so i’ll try to compare the two this weekend. I have 0 experience with this new fangled headset world though, so this might well be SOP (it’s probably been well over 10 years since i used headphones with any sort of gaming).

I haven’t had good luck with the new Xbox Wireless Headset on Windows 10. Multiple updates and reboots were required - despite having auto-updates enabled. Numerous problems over Bluetooth on multiple computers. Muffled sound in some cases and connection problems for all. The Accessories app also doesn’t work via Bluetooth.

I added the Xbox Controller Adapter for Windows - an additional $25 purchase. Seemed better sound-wise. Also nice that the configuration menu works. The audio device shows up as “Xbox Controller” though, which is confusing. But the really confusing part is the Support FAQ says:

  • Bluetooth has only one in and out device - the game/voice mixer on the left ear won’t work
  • With the adapter you can use two different sound devices. Set one as game audio and the other for chat.

What actually happened for me on multiple computers:

  • Bluetooth connection showed multiple sound devices, which only sometimes worked. Removing and re-pairing the headset over Bluetooth fixed the lack of audio, but still had quality issues.
  • With the Xbox adapter I only get one sound device, which means the mixer is non-functional.

Really disappointed. If I can’t get decent audio quality and the mixer function to work properly on PC they will be going back.

That’s some choice snark.

Eh, the PS4 share games video was 8 years ago, at this point it comes across as the guy that’s been stewing on getting burned and has been walking around muttering to themselves working on their comeback.

Tom Warren isn’t MS by the way, he’s an editor with The Verge.

Honestly Gamepass is the only clear way for Microsoft to break through the “genre” barrier that protects companies like Nintendo and to a large extent Sony, though both of those companies have certainly earned it with a large number of 1st party games over the years.
