Praetorians is a tactical strategy game from the creators of Commandos.
Xbox noob q: If you buy a physical game, do you always have to use that disc, or will it register it with your library, and from then on you could uninstall and download later through the xbox? Also do you need the media inserted when playing these days?
You need the disc. Thereās no way for them to tell if you sell the disc to someone else, in which case, they own it now, not you. So you need the disc for verification, always.
Heh, I forgot all about that market.
Yeah itās a little funny, the console installs the game from disc to the local drive so you arenāt playing from the disc - but as Rock8man notes, the disc has to stay in because I guess you could buy one copy and pass it around your circle of friends and cost MS some purchases.
Dead End Job is a hard (game) pass; already have one of those!
Man, thatās a pretty sad display. They went from 4 titles a month to 2. And they usually always had a big AAA title in there, but canāt remember the last time that happened.
Looking at the list, last time looks to be maybe Darksiders III in August 2021. And before that, Gears 5 earlier in 2021. So itās been over a year, Iād say.
EDIT: Wait, Tropico 5 probably counts in December 2021, even though I hate that series.
It really couldnāt be clearer where their effort is focused at the moment. Which I donāt mind of itself, but if youāre going to take away a perceived value-add like half the free games you offer each month, you should be looking at giving something back. I still feel like Xbox Live Gold is in this weird transitional state - is it even necessary at this point? Why not ditch it entirely, just say hey, online is free! And then folks could hop over to Game Pass if they wanted to keep getting a constant flow of new games.
On the upside, that would be a big competitive advantage with Sony, though not PC which of course doesnāt charge for that sort of thing. I guess the question is how much money they could be giving up from dropping Gold. That probably seems like free money at this point.
So do folks here like to use rechargeable packs for their controllers, plug in with cable, or go through AA batteries like a madman? It has been 5 days I think, and I already went through a pair of AA. I do currently tend to have a hyperx headset plugged into the controller, which I imagine is making things a lot worse. I was thinking Iād wait a bit and see how long the batteries last, but at this rate it would probably pay for itself in 6 months to get one of the rechargeable packs that MS or someone else sells. I will probably end up picking up an xbox branded headset at some point as well.
I donāt game on the console much, but I have an 8-pack of rechargeable AA batteries and always keep 4 of them charging. So when the controller gets low, I swap 'em.
I use rechargeable Duracell batteries. Theyāre rated to last 10 years or 400 charges.
After a year or so, they seem to hold less charge. Couldnāt tell you exactly how long they last between charges though, as Iāve bought several 4-pack sets over the years and not sure which are newer/older. But if I had to guess, Iād say on average I can game for around 7 or 8 hours or so before needing to switch out to another pair.
Rechargeable batteries for me too. Though, somehow I have have enough since they tend to disappear in to kidās rooms never to return. So I just ordered another 4 pack of Panasonic Eneloop Pros which Iāve read a few places are the best.
Rechargeable batteries for me too. Panasonic Eneloop to be exact.
I use a charging cradle. Simplifies things to have a dedicated location for controllers when not in use, and theyāre always charged.
I use a little battery pack charger thing that plugs into the USB port on the console. it has two slots, and when you run one pack down, you just swap it for the other. You can get them for cheap on Amazon. This has the added bonus that you arenāt fumbling with individual batteries.
Eneloops for me as well, but I donāt use headsets most of the time, and each charge lasts a long time. Plain duracells that came with the controller last me over a week of intense use when I got the Xbox One playing Forza 5, with lots of rumble in there as well. So if AA batteries are going fast, it must be the headset thatās sucking up your juice so fast.
Iāve just used either eneloops or IKEA-brand rechargeable batteries. I have like 10-15 each of AA and AAA rechargeables since my kidās toys chew threw them like crazy.
Rechargeable Amazon brand batteries last about 5? 10? times as long in the Xbox controller as the PS5 controller, which seems to deplete in about 3-5 hours of game time, tops.
I grabbed a cheapo two pack of rechargeables for the xbox controller from Gamestop awhile back. I think it was less than 20 bucks and itās worked out perfectly for me. Leave one pack plugged into the front of the XSX while using the other. Iām pretty casual, mostly an hour or so after work and a bit on weekends. I donāt feel like Iām constantly swapping.
