Beat it yesterday on C/I. I would say overall I thought it was easier than the first. I think at least on the strategic layer, which is where I have most of my problems in XCOM longwar anyway. Not having to fund really any money towards an air game or worry too much about building placement or even timing made this one a heck of a lot easier.

The last mission I don’t want to spoil, but let me just say this so people don’t get screwed like I almost did to myself. The shadow chamber said there were 35 guys in that mission, it lies. There will be more, a lot more. Don’t do what I did and get to 3 left and think - ok well I guess I can nuke these guys since I don’t need to save my expendables anymore.

I’m going to take a break for a few weeks and then mod the hell out of it. Probably make it harder (larger packs and more varied advent troops) while messing with the healing game and maybe whatever else floats my spaceship.

Awesome! Thank JtHM’s little friend!

Yep, I got my copy from CDKeys myself.

Got my The Division Gold Edition from there (the one with the season pass) for 82 bucks. Not bad.

Like some others have mentioned I now consider this a modern classic. It’s one of those games I think about after I stop playing it. I run the last mission I played over in my mind and wonder how I could have done better, what variation of tactics could I have tried, and different team/skill compositions I could have brought to the table. I am 42 hours in and haven’t even finished a full campaign yet (though getting close). This is one of the first games in a long long time that I can foresee immediately starting a new campaign as soon as I complete my current run. I think the tactical layer of this version surpasses EU/EW and creates some profound tension.

Heck, I’m probably about 50 hours in according to Steam, but I’m only now investigating the Codex brain on my first campaign (Veteran). I’ve save-scummed shamelessly on occasion (I really hate to lose people). Really loving the improvements they made like the LoS indicators, and armor upgrades applied to all applicable troops automatically, and am glad I don’t have to build planes for hangars anymore (especially when I couldn’t sell my old extra armor/weapons for money like in the classic games from the 90’s, so money was always incredibly tight).

Ship down. Assault too much. Time to start a new game.

That’s a crazy fight for sure. I wonder if the map is the same for everyone during that mission, or if it varies.

It has varied for me across playthroughs.

Btw, your character continues to be my most injured, (phantom ranger), but remains in the A-Team.

One interesting thing about the new game, I’m out of Africa and in Siberia now. A change is as good as a rest, eh? Robert is your father’s bruvver and all that.

You’re not in my game yet for some reason. However, my character showed up as a VIP engineer-to-be-rescued in that mission I was complaining about upthread.

I definitely enjoying the game at Veteran now. I’m 6 days from clearing out the last space on the Avenger. I’ve got a shadow chamber, and PSI lab, I guess I should put a Defense Matrix in the last spot. I think the armor and wounds seem about right. That said I’m sure I’ll take a fairly long break from the game when I finish it.

Yeah. It has me in its grip. Second game going well. Love seeing troops I saved showing up as recruits. And of course dreaming about the game as well. Much love for XCOM2.

I particularly like that it seems that troops get their old specialization again when they level up in a new game. Maybe it’s random, but so far it’s happening.

Anarchy’s Children cosmetic DLC pack launches on March 17th. It’s part of the season pass, or $5 separately.

Whelp, there goes the name for my garage band I was hoping to form.

-Todd

Cosmetic DLC?

Yup. That’s it. 100+ cosmetic bits for XCOM troops.

I meant it’s an ok garage band name.

Nothing too exciting, but I’m happier with adding cosmetic options than I would be adding scripted missions.

Disappointing. I guess we can only hope that the next 2 dlc are worth buying.
