No spoilers, but totally loving the later game content. I think I’m nearing the final stages of the game. Pretty anxious to see what surprises lay in store.

Sounds like you might have reached the outer range of the grenade?

Just like the other day, I decided to reload quite a few times on a tricky mission on Classic difficulty. Like last time, once I got past it, it felt like the game opened up again. Lots of promotions, upgrades are finally done, my squad is looking pretty badass.

I haven’t been reloading much other than a couple tough missions. But I’m having even more fun now. Don’t be afraid to skip Ironman, use your judgment on reloading, and enjoy the game!

A scripting bug has left me unable to progress through the final mission. And since I’m playing on iron man, my whole campaign is now screwed. Right at the end.

I’m trying hard not to let this sour me on the game.

Started to run into a few bugs late in the game.

  • Savegames are suddenly corrupted so the game crashes when I try to load them, so now I normally save 2-3 times before I quit the game in the hopes that one will work.

  • Loading a savegame where there are some mobs that should be dead, upon reload they are still dead but their corpses appear standing

  • Loading a savegame and my SHIV is now invisible, or turned into a human player without a head :-)

Annoyed that the tutorial kills your people and this is tracked as a stain on your progress. Had I known I would’ve started a fresh game without the tutorial.

Annoying thing: The Steam shortcut for screenshots (shift-f12) does two extra things in the game

  • Shift switches which unit you are commanding
  • F12 quicksaves

So there are a lot of quicksaves and unit shifts whenever I try to take a picture. (yes I know I can change the hotkey).

Why the hell is auto save disabled by default? It’s my fault for having auto windows update enabled (new install) but that doesn’t make me feel any better about losing a couple hours of gameplay.

I have the same problem at the moment. I assume this is a bug because the game isn’t giving me any indication as to why I can’t take the SHIV with me. Very strange.

This is on the 360, fwiw.

Ughhh. Sorry to hear that. I hope it’s a very very rare bug.

It seems a real bug, more people have the same problem, no one found a solution

Anyone from out of US who pre ordered this from GMG? Have you received the $10 coupon and Civ V yet?

yes to both questions!

Crap… I better email support then!

Peachy. I might have made it through that game if I’d be able to pull out my SHIVs I had built when most of my good squad was recovering. Instead I got to send like 4 newbies into a terror mission.

I don’t think my sniper’s squadsight is working. Some of my guys can see aliens, but he can’t shoot at them for some reason. Does he have to have LOS?

I don’t think he can bend bulletcurves yet :-)

That said, the latest patch said it updated SquadSight somehow.

Squad sighted aliens now have a unique icon and I think they may have added an accuracy penalty due to distance.

There was this Sniper perk that allow a sniper to shoot aliens as long as its in line of sight of his squads. How does that work? Is it accurate and worth investing?

What…‘final mission’ already? how long you been playing? When i get into an original X-com campaign it keeps me going for months!!

Now you can tell when your sniper is able to shoot an X-ray through squadsight; the alien head icon (in the lower right) will have a crosshair icon on it.

And yes, the sniper needs a direct line of fire to the target.

It’s a very good skill. Because the sniper can’t move and shoot in the same turn, extending his/her range through the sight of others is very useful.

Reviewers say a campaign takes ~20 hours to beat; Jake Solomon has said that a typical campaign will have around thirty battles.

It is called squad sight and is/was overpowered at extreme long ranges not sure if the patch added an aim penalty or I was sniping things with extremely high defense.
