- Give heavies scopes
- Use their rockets to remove cover as well as damage enemies
- Use a second heavy with bullet swarm to kill the exposed and weakened enemies
With the increased crit chance due to being in the open and the +33% damage from a shredder rocket, pretty much anything will go down with the next shot. Since they leave weakened enemies with no cover, they’re great for letting rookies get kills.
It’s all about scouting and using terrain so your heavy will be in rocket range when the aliens show up.

Do you know what a smoke grenade do? I’m not sure if it is use to blind enemy or use for my troop to hide in. It definitely doesn’t cause any inconvenience to the enemy. I can’t understand how it gives any tactical advantage.
Also, as to sniper being too powerful, if they patch sniper to remove second sight, will people scream??? :)

Is there a plasma shotgun? I.e. is there anything better than a laser scatter gun?
Oh, right, per the prior discussion on heavy effectiveness, implied was “they all had scopes.” I suppose that’s not a given.
Alloy Cannon. Plasma tech tier, though it’s a projectile weapon rather than green energy.

That exact thing happened to me when my squad opened up on some revealed Thin Men. Three were revealed, two were killed and one badly wounded. He retreated to cover and I lost track of him. There were still 2 nonexistent red heads on the screen.

Smoke grenade gives a +20 defense bonus to anything inside the smoke cloud, friendly or enemy. You should put the cloud sphere on your own guys, not on the enemy, and not between you and the enemy. The cloud will not affect the ability of units inside the cloud to shoot at things outside the cloud.
The later upgrade, Dense Smoke, increases the size of the cloud, and adds an additional +20 defense, or +40 overall.

Thanks for the pro tip on the smoke grenade. I stupidly threw it at the enemy thinking it will blind them or something!

No fix for the teleporting enemies?
That’s disappointing.
They appearently haven’t been listening to the comments THAT closely, after all.

Is this referring to sequentially sending two interceptors? I didn’t think it was possible to intercept with more than one at a time.

Did you wake up on the dick side of the bed this morning?
Did they say “You know, after reviewing the comments, we decided to completely ignore the teleporting enemies issue. We’re not even gonna try to fix it, ever. Screw you guys.”
Did they say “Whelp, now we’ve fixed everything, and everyone should be happy, because there are no other issues with the game!”?
Let’s say they had the time and whatever else to fix the teleporting enemies issue, but in order to do that they had to let the roof visibility issue slide, or the SHIV bug slide for this patch. What would you say then?
“WHAT? monicle popping They didn’t fix the horrible roof visibility issue that so many people complained about? SHIVS are STILL broken? SO much for listening to the community!”
Jesus.

Heh, chill out Hugin.
It is a pretty common complaint on the official forums, so at least mentioning it, even in a “we’re still working on…” way would have been kinda neat.
That said, your reply was far more dickish than mine, so it must’ve been you that woke up on that side of the bed.

As a dev I thank you. You just said what I want to blurt out on the interwebs almost every day.
people:You didn’t fix THIS!
me:…but but…we have over 400 bugs fixed in the last 4 weeks…
people:BUT NOT THIS? You guys suck…derp derp.
This is why the last 3 minutes of Jay and Silent Bob are my favorite movie scene ever.

As a troll, I’m obviously unable to keep up with your guys polite, considerate and well articulated replies (you sure know how to make an elephant out of a fly), so I have nothing else to say.

The thing about the teleporting aliens is, there have been some people claiming it isn’t a bug (no one official from 2K, but several posters, here and on the xcom forums). So it’s understandable (to me at least) that not seeing it listed would cause someone to question whether it’s being addressed at all. In fact, the whole list is rather small considering it’s been several weeks since the game was released and the list of known, repeatable bugs is far longer. A simple “here is a list of some, but not all changes” in the 2K post would have left it open-ended and up for less scrutiny.

Because it’s the customer’s fault that a game is released with bugs? I’m not really getting your point, it seems to be that as long as a company is doing some work on fixing a broken product anyone who complains is a troll or whatever?
By “teleporting aliens” are you referring to them suddenly appearing right next to you? I had that happen with a cyberdisc and his repair drone friend, just one step below my guys on the terrain, literally in an adjacent square.
