I was thinking about the size of the game and the level of detail in the base. What if there was a Easter egg like in day of the tentacle where you can play the original game from a pc you find in the sequel. Watching central go to his office and boot up the old game would be a hoot.

Just a ramble but I was remembering when remakes/sequels had cool omages like that.

Given the original is like like, 9 MB, I doubt the size of this game can be considerer a clue about that.

I wasn’t seriously implying that they really packed the old game. Nowadays you’d have to pack emulators too, which would still be fairly small. I was just thinking how cool it was for lucasarts to do that with DOTT and hoping that companies were as clever with the updates and reboots as lucasarts was back then.

2K Greg (Community Manager) is saying the game unlocks 9pm PST (11pm CST, Midnight EST). That’s several hours earlier than Steam is currently showing, however, but I assume Greg knows what he’s talking about.

Hot damn. Greenman Gaming is offering $10 store credit and a copy of Civ5 to Xcom preorders in north America, and this is retroactive for previous preorders. So my order for $36 or whatever it was when they had a trade-in deal basically got bumped down to $26 and an extra copy of Civ 5.
Just gotta hope they get the keys out in time for me to preload.

Good bit of news after hearing my fear of maps repeating all the time mostly confirmed. Especially when I watched that 25 minute video they had posted and had seen the two maps they got from random missions multiple times in other gameplay videos.

Hah, I just switched my pre-order from Amazon to Green Man Gaming the other day, only to wake up to find that Amazon was matching GMG prices

Glad to see GMG jumping in on the action to make an even better deal.

Huh, we’re also getting Civ V for free now too? Nice. Maybe preloading will happen for Hitman as well and we’ll be able to get in on the sniper challenge.

I just placed my order and got a key immediately. They are holding back the $10 credit and copy of Civ V until the game is actually released to keep people from taking advantage, I suppose, but that’s ok with me.

Looks like it’s using the same LIFO (last in first out) method of key distribution it was for Borderlands.

I just switched my order from Amazon to GMG also. First time customer their hope I didn’t make a mistake.

But a while ago Amazon had an issue with getting the keys out early and GMG is sending them out now, and it is cheaper.

Yeah, which is kind of a bummer but so long as they don’t run out of keys and I can preload before launch I won’t worry about it.

Had my preorder in for a month and still haven’t gotten a key though.
Edit: Correction, got it now!
