I didn’t realize it was a permanent ban.

it isn’t, they just need to kiss the papal ring. They refuse to.

We should probably stop talking. I don’t like the taste of ring either.

Well, I’ll change the tone with a little bit more debt talk, as I’m not quite sure what thread to drop this article in.

Sigh.

C’mon…now we need to know more. What movie? You can say that much at least as it would probably give some clue as to what they could have been arguing about…

Cantor’s proposal to offset disaster aid has been criticized by both Republicans and Democrats. Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) called it “sinful to require us to cut somewhere … in order to provide emergency disaster assistance for American citizens.” Rep. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.) said the federal government should “spend whatever is necessary” after Hurricane Irene.

of course both are from states hard hit by hurricanes…

What part of “don’t discuss bans” don’t people understand? Just let it go. Or PM people for the details if you MUST know.

Another article. Boy, that austerity stuff sure is great, huh? We don’t need money for stupid stuff like rebuilding things!

Just look up some posts by them, right-click their username, do Find More Posts By User, and draw your own conclusions. Self-service solo yenta-ing, easy as pie.

See, this is the thing about budgets and plans. We need to be honest to the constituents.
[INDENT]We know that Americans believe in shared sacrifice, and that all of us want a strong country built on a sound fiscal basis. We know that raising taxes on the wealthy is unfair, so we are asking Americans to make the sacrifice necessary to keep from having to tax the top 1%. Therefore, we cannot provide relief to those of you who’ve suffered severe losses from hurricanes, fires, floods, etc. Please know that you have our sympathies, but we are also proud that you’re patriotic Americans who are proud to sacrifice your home and your families.

Can’t we just cut the education budget in the affected areas in order to fund rebuilding? It seems like a sound long term strategy with good Christian values.

Sure it is. They are all home-schooling anyhow.

From the tea party republican debate:

Wolf asks Ron Paul: Should we let a thirty year old with no insurance die if he doesn’t have health insurance?

Before Paul has a chance to respond, multiple voices in the crowd shout: “YES!”

Edit: Ah, beat to it by Telefrog

Truly scary people.

Hmm I thought they got funding for doing home schooling. Whether that money goes to their child’s education or the new dirtbike…

I think Jesus said in Romans to spit and kick dirt on the uninsured lepers.

“Because if this is gonna be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we’ve got to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we’ve got to acknowledge that he commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition — and then admit that we just don’t want to do it.”

My favorite Colbert takedown ever.

That’s pretty good, but my favorite is still here (It’s all great, but jump to around the 5 minute mark for the Awesome).

Haha, “between mouthfuls of French whore”

Funny thing is, these people claim to be Christian, and I’m sure many in their private lives would give the shirt off their back to someone in need that they ran into, but they can’t figure out that private charity can never suffice to meet the needs of the destitute when a large chunk (and an ever growning one) of the social product is appropriated by a tiny tiny percentage of the population, and when everyone else works directly or indirectly for them, most at wages/salaries barely adequate to cover their own needs.

Christian morals and capitalism really don’t work well together.
