2019 Cricket World Cup

Neesham and de Grandhomme have probably saved New Zealand. 237/6. Not bad at all.

It’s going to be an exciting second half.

Surely Pakistan can chase 238 with reasonable confidence?

True. But that New Zealand recovery has given their bowlers a real chance to win this game for them.

Nice that Pakistan managed to chase down the win.

Makes some of the remaining games a lot more interesting than they appeared a week ago.

Im not convinced NZ will win either of their last two at this rate. As is it has been since dinosaurs ruled the earth, NZ doesn’t have enough quality batsmen.

We can only hope Australia decides to rest Warner/Finch/Smith/Starc for our match now that their semifinals berth is secure!

Surely Nicholls for Munro is on the cards now.

Stead seems beyond reason with these lineups. I would have thought Ish should have played last night.

He would have been very handy on that pitch, that’s true.

Unfortunately he’ll only get in at the expense of Santner (who’s a much better bat) unless Stead loses his mind and plays two spinners. Neither option seems likely at this stage…

Now that RSA are all but eliminated, they have decided to play, just in time to wreck Sri Lanka’s chance to sneak into the semis.

A couple of exciting games going.

Afghanistan managed to get all the way to 50 overs somehow against Pakistan, scoring 227. And then Pakistan had one of their openers bowled on the second ball of their inning. They seemed to have settled down into a decent groove now though.

Meanwhile, in the Australia vs New Zealand match, the NZ bowlers are devestating Australia’s line up. 5 out already in 22 overs, and Australia have managed to reach 100 now. We’ll see how long they last.

Shades of the 2003 WC match as we have Aus 5 down for under a hundred but then let them get away. Still, doesn’t appear as though we’ll capitulate with the bat this time (or at least not to the same degree).

And hats off to Stead for finally giving Nicholls and Sodhi a shot. His comments late this week suggested he’d be doing otherwise but seeing the lineup for today was a pleasant surprise.

And with that comment Kane promptly gets out! Time for Latham to finally produce something in this tournament - his form has been terrible and Blundell is breathing down his neck…

What a collapse by NZ!

Marginal improvement on 2003! 🙂

Big game for England today, they really need to beat India to guarantee progression to the semi-finals. Decent start with England batting first, 46-0 after 9 overs although Bairstow has been lucky with a couple of inside edges.

I think England need to win both their remaining games to guarantee a semi spot.

That’s right, up to 67-0 now

100 up in the 16th over. Roy/Bairstow partnership delivering again.

India requires 10 runs an over now with 15 overs left.
