Just saw this on the big screen it was a blast. My youngest who is a huge monster hunter fan gave it his highest possible rating ie a it’s alright.
This was better than I expected, and also the best of the half dozen movies I’ve watched this week. But just to be clear, neither of those statements is meant as a strong endorsement.
It was a stupid action movie with paper thin characters and the least amount plot in any movie that I can remmber. But I was honestly fine with all that. After a bunch of other action movies that were being choked by infodumps, the emphasis of showing rather than telling was much appreciated. The movie set up a scenario, it was an appropriately human scaled story of survival rather than end of the fucking world, and then they let it run out for 90 minutes.
The cliffhanger ending was obviously trash though.
I watched this recently. I thought the second half of the movie was better than the first.
