The wife is crazy about this show and talked me into giving it a shot. It’s OK, but very safe and derivative of better shows.
Elevator pitch: Kid’s mother OD’s and dies, so he goes to live with Grandma. Turns out she’s Ma Barker, running a crime family composed of his 4 uncles. Will he get sucked in? Oh, and it’s Southern California, so everyone surfs (naturally).
Ellen Barkin is very good as the grandmother, but it’s Sons of Anarchy with surf boards instead of motorcycles.
