This thread got me to take chimney safety seriously, and now we’re replacing a fire hazard of a chimney/insert situation before using it. So not a total loss.
But it’s not cheap. Big oof!
Yeah, I had to reline and repoint my chimney a few years ago. It was a few thousand bucks I think, not cheap at all.
