The only reason doctors will not be wearing masks right now is because there aren’t any available.

I also saw 2 of them touching their face after using the handrail. And look at the huge welcoming crew not practicing social distancing.

Yeah did you see a bunch of healthcare workers running around in January with them. They weren’t unaware then, and there were masks. The healthcare workers largely follow what they tell other people to do. We have lot physicians, nurses, medical assistances, techs… a lot of people out there in the industry that don’t wear these masks on a regular basis, even when they’re available, and they are not all low information individuals.
And they’re putting their lives on the line, everyday, for us, and they do that throughout their careers and they don’t wear masks home… just in case.
Thanks. I needed that laugh.

Well there goes a bed. Someone is going to try that with a Heat Gun and probably burn their nose and face off when they’re too drunk or high to feel it.
Apparently Rand Paul was in the Senate gym this morning, and other Senators who were also there are now experiencing a surfeit of pucker.
WTF is wrong with these people?

Looking for easy answers I guess instead of actually stopping their routines. Who can say. Anything but staying at home seems to be a preference for some. If we could just get people to follow that for a few weeks… maybe even just a couple but hey.
Interesting comment on the hurricane chart.
Well his dad wrote an article just 6 days ago calling it all a hoax so…
And I hate to say it but we need some big right wing politicians or pundits to get seriously ill from it, Paul having only mild symptoms is just going to reinforce the overreaction narrative.

I don’t know who that guy/gal (Lisa) is, but the article is interesting.
They have now recovered, but it could have been much worse if Singapore didn’t have a sophisticated and extensive contact tracing programme, which follows the chain of the virus from one person to the next, identifying and isolating those people - and all their close contacts - before they can spread the virus further.
“We would have ended up like Wuhan,” says Leong Hoe Nam, an infectious diseases specialist at the Mount Elizabeth Novena hospital and a Singapore government advisor.
You should read this:
It’s pretty amazing what was done in Taiwan with contact tracing, a single health care system, and a big-data approach.
This is an excellent article, thanks!
Italy’s death toll dropped a bit from the record-high the previous day, but still 651 more died.
Congrats USA, it seems you finally have stolen our place on the infected list for good.
So very much this. This is not intended to call you out anyone, because I absolutely understand where you’re coming from, but whenever any of us think this - “well, if it’s only 1-2%, I’m willing to take my chances”, it’s because we all, deep inside, all believe the bullet will miss us.
Ask yourself this instead: Are you willing to sacrifice your father/mother/spouse and/or the health of your child (because even though few kids die from the virus, many of those who get it badly will feel the consequences for the rest of their life) in order to “save the economy” (which is a BS argument, but it’s one we’ll hear a lot going forward) in order to avoid 3-6 extra months of quarantine?
That’s the real question, you need to ask yourself. Because it’s not that unlikely to be a reality, in this situation.

I agree with Scott, Tawains mobilization is extraordinary, and likely not possible to do here under current law. There’s a lot here and the branching articles do suggest that others are studying them at least but stuff like this:
On Feb. 18, the government granted all hospitals, clinics and pharmacies access to patients’ travel histories.
It feels like every time a new health issue comes up it’s completely based on a questionnaire, like someone asking you did you go to Africa, China… just a verbal response.
Of course that’s just one of many things they did. They also squashed the hell out of any toilet paper claims which we couldn’t figure out how to do even that, even today, right now.
Yeah. I just… I don’t want to receive that bullet or worse, be it. I am not going out except for basic essentials. Period. To do otherwise is just… unthinkable to me. I don’t understand the other mentality at all, but I did live in Asia for a short-time, so this isn’t some study. I was there. I saw the difference, experienced it.

Seems unlikely, how did you arrive at that number? 500/day seems like the absolute top range.
