I never saw the show, maybe because it did not get a lot of reruns. Whereas slapstick comedies did get aired again and again and again.
RIP. I remember watching Julia as a kid circa 1969 and my mom saying it was important because it was the first TV show to star a black woman who wasn’t playing a maid.
I thought that was weird … but the very fact I thought it was weird is a measure of what a change it made.
Your mom didn’t watch Star Trek, I take it.
I remember Julia. I remember her on it and the doctor and that’s all I remember. I can’t remember a single plot or scene.
Lead, I mean. By no stretch was Lt. Uhura the star of the show.
