Well, I ended up sending it back to the place that built it for them to run diagnostics on. Could really be anything at this point.
A 650 watt 12v rail PSU should be enough to power a i5 2.66 quadcore + 2 HDs + a geforce 9800 GT right?
Should be more than enough I’d think.

Anecdotal, I know, but I was having the same issue with my Thinkpad T410 with discrete Nvidia 3100M card - every time I moved between projector & no projector it would “crash” and recover. Updated drivers did the trick.
Despite the aggravation, I’m pleased that, when the Nvidia card crashed, it didn’t take my entire system down with me. My Geforce 6600 GTS used to crash & force me to reboot. Now that was a pain.
