Julie Steiner will fuck you up.

Be very wary of playing right now, the server backend seems to be having serious issues. Exploration is oftentimes requiring 3-4 scans per planet to actually take and selling said data often results in not actually getting any money. I also just dropped about 600,000cr on a pair of beam lasers. The game happily took my money, disconnected me, and didn’t actually give me the beam lasers I paid for. Looking at the forums, I’m not the only one having the problem. Yeesh.

Ouch.

Yep, servers are seriously screwed up. ~250k lost in faulty transactions.

So I just checked again 5 minutes after the initial problem, and now I have my beam lasers. It appears that the transactions are going through, they are just really, really delayed. At least in my case (I also received my exploration payments now). Hopefully yours similarly comes through eventually.

Yeah, I just had the same problem. I lost a lot of money. Each time I tried to buy something, I’d get disconnected from the server. When I went back into the game, the money was gone, but the item was back to my old configuration. I tried it three times before I realized I was losing money, and that the disconnection was triggered consistently by purchasing something. So I exited the station and flew around for a bit. And I completely forgot about Julie Steiner! Arggh! RUN!!!

I’m back at the station, but I’m not buying any new parts to help me fight. Because I’d just lose more money.

So I’m doing this mission to get the Federation some combat stabilizers but for the life of me I can’t find the damn things. I go to galaxy map and sort by High Tech worlds and Medicines —> Combat Stabilizers but there are no systems anywhere that I can see on the map that sells these things. I click and drag every which way on the map and not a single system shows up. Am I doing something wrong?

Whats more is they are illegal just about every Fed system and likely illegal in the system giving the mission. I’ve seen them in Alliance and Empire systems. When you find them and return, don’t get scanned!

edit: I thought I saw them at Leesti, it’s near Lave if that helps. Severs are still hosed otherwise I’d look.

Not sure if you consider this site cheaty, but give this a try: http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/

Hit Search, specify commodity, station selling, Combat Stabilizers, your current system and reach, and voila – locations!

Yeah, I lost a chunk of change to server issues. Should’ve just logged out. Sigh.

Wow, just got back a few days ago from laptop only land. Took me an hour to get caught up in this thread. Thanks to the encouragement of this thread, I think I’m going to give K&M another go.

Do we know if they’re resolved by now?

@krayzkrok No problem re: the message. I think you just have to open the comms panel (however you have that mapped), click on the person’s name and pick “text chat.” Or, maybe, just hitting return (or whatever you have set as “quick comms”) will open up a box that sends a return message–I know it does once you’re in a conversation with someone, but it may not if you haven’t yet replied once.

I’ve got the magnificent sum of 41,000 credits now, still using my newb Sidewinder. (I don’t have the Freagle.) As always, I have questions.

  1. The Fed Navy has started offering me a mission to gain a rank, but they always ask for weapons that I can’t find to buy. I suppose sooner or later I’ll find someone who will sell me personal weapons or such. Is it important to gain ranks?

  2. Also, I’ve got 20,000 credits in exploration data saved up, but my newb ship won’t let me jump far enough to get 20 LY away to sell any of it. If I get blown up, will I lose all that data? I’m wondering if I should make it a priority to upgrade my jump distance somehow.

  3. Finally, what ship should I get next if I want to try mining and trading? The Hauler?

Can you get the mouse cursor up during flight? I tried hitting return though, and it brought up [TO Kelan] who I had been chatting with a few seconds earlier (he was in the same nav point area). I couldn’t work out how to change it to [TO Queebatron]. I realised later, however, that hitting 2 (my comms panel shortcut) should bring up a list of contact that I can talk to, and presumably you’d have been listed there. Next time you send a message, I’ll try that! Which actually is exactly what you just said. Oh boy… coffee…

  1. I’m not entirely sure, but it’s how I got my Sol permit. You’re supposed to get more missions from them as well.

  2. Yes you will lose it (speaks from experience)! Find a system >20 Ly away and try “Plot route” on the galaxy map, it should figure out how you can get there (don’t pick a system too far away!) using a number of smaller jumps within your jump range. Don’t plot route and then buy cargo, it will affect your jump range.

  3. You want more cargo bays / larger cargo bays, and the Hauler seems like the preferred path if you’re seriously about it and don’t want to do combat (unless you buy it as a second ship). If you want greater flexibility perhaps an Adder would be better.

(Edited because I reposted my earlier questions by accident.)

Thanks for your replies. Sounds like a Hauler is what I want. OK, I’ll keep trying to find a system 20LY away. It seems there’s one jump I just can’t make, and no other route out, but I could be wrong. I’m in the Frigaha (Frihaha?) area. Er, the area with the Maine Hub and such. Gah, can’t remember any of the names. :)

Are these guys back from the holidays working hard on patches? Is there a mega-patch coming soon or anything? Just planning out my backlog.

Eravate! That’s the name of the system that gives me the most work. Danged if I can’t find a way to get 20 LY away in my newb ship.

I thought it was just me but yeah the servers have been wonky today. Luckily I didn’t lose any spacebucks.

That did the trick! I can understand the devs not wanting to hand over all trade data to players on a silver platter but there has to be a better way of finding stuff other than jumping to random systems to see their inventory.

This is exsactly what I had trouble with this evening. Use the link tylertoo shared above to find the goods you’re looking for. You can easily get 20+LY away from your present position provided you refuel at stations along your route or buy a fuel scoop. I bought my first fuel scoop today and it’s a real hoot racing around stars for free gas.
