The LobsterHow did this movie get on my list? I wouldn’t even say I liked it. But the first half, that was something. Even that wasn’t quite my style, but it was so different, darkly comedic, and fascinating, I can’t overlook or ignore it. The second half was a weaker execution of something I already wasn’t totally on board with, but when I went back and looked at every thing I saw this year, I kept coming back to this and turning over parts of it in my head. It makes the cut.
I must be the only person who prefers the second half to the first. Or at least thinks it fulfils the promise of the first half for precisely the reasons other people dislike it.
