Futuristic trucks (that are interesting?)

Funny to realize that you don’t need a cab for a driverless truck:

Imagine being the person who had to program the trailer-reversing algorithm. I can’t even manage it in in Euro Truck Sim given enough trail and error.

The driverless trucks in Logan didn’t have cabs. But they didn’t look that lame either.

What happens when the AI (for want of a better term) craps out? How do they drive it then?

Hook it up to a normal truck?

I suppose. It just seems that a place for a driver would be more efficient.

presumably nobody is going to buy one unless the AI fails in less than 0.01% of trips? why cart around the weight of a seat, and manual controls for the 9999 journeys because of the 1 where you wish you had a cab?

Well, you have to send two trucks to haul the load and the cab if it fails.

Oops. Didn’t realize this thread was sort of stale.

Is it wrong that my first thought is to wonder how easy it would be to hijack the trailer?

This guy could do it easily.

Butter delivered!

Hope it’s okay to add onto this existing thread.

I hate driving, have no interest in cars other than a necessary evil of living in Texas north but I enjoy some of the Jalopnik journalism very much like writer David Tracy’s Jeep obsession:
