What’s the word on Jurassic Park? Should I get the DLC before playing or is it solid with the base game?

The fancy chess game seems like an obvious one to skip.

With ya there. Well, actually I might have two duplicates so I might get it anyways.

That’s what I ended up doing. Already had Gladius and Rise of Industry so I just took everything else.

Rise of Industry was a bit boring the last time I tried it, I’ll revisit as it has been a good half a year, and I am sure its been patched a bit.

True.
I’ll get it though, because I’m a chess guy. Compared to Lichess online play and the standard programs by Chessbase it will probably turn out to be for beginners only, to put it mildly. Nevertheless I’m going to take a look.

After digging through the reviews for all games I decided to skip Horace and Neoverse. The latter has the weakest reviews of the bunch (it seems to be an okay-ish Slay the Spire clone), while the former is probably a good game, but it was a giveaway on Epic a few months ago.

If you have Amazon/Twitch Prime, you may already have the Swords of Ditto, a previous giveaway.

I probably do but I’ll never download a game from twitch so it’s like I don’t have it at all. Still a slave to my steam library.

Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it.

Hmm, I’ve been waiting on a sale for Gladius, but nothing else this month really interests me. Think I’ll pause and see if they offer me a discount to unpause.

I’ve heard good things about Mo Astray on the twitter, and Horace is very good if you like retro-styled platformers. It’s story heavy in the early game but the gloves come off quickly.

Good month, although I will need a second lifetime to get around to all these games. Given that I definitely want Gladius and Mo Astray, and Niche, Ditto and Warsaw look interesting, I’ll keep my unbroken not-pausing record since it went Choice.

Heave Ho is an easy skip, as is Rise of Industry. If anyone wants a copy of Horace let me know.

I redeemed JW and Heave Ho, leaving me with 8 more choices. None of this interests me or would be good for my nephew. If any non subs want some of the other available titles PM me and I’ll get you a code. This is the worst month ever for me. Usually I am taking 8 of the 10 or more cause they at least look interesting even if I will never play em. I don’t even want most of the rest or have em already (xcom2)

I doubt I’d ever download it from either place (bar seeing an enthusiastic post being made about it on Qt3, in which case I’d check it out). But given I have it on Twitch, for the Humble thing I chose the XCom2 option for the poorly-reviewed DLC instead.

Which reminds me, if anyone wants the base XCom2 game, PM me for a Steam key. gone

Oh good idea! I’ll try that too. They always offer me a discount. I’ve been paused since the old plan was grandfathered in but xcom 2 and Gladius means I’ll finally bite the bullet.

Third pause in a row…Humble is turning from something I always looked forward to to something that just disappoints me.

Me too, the switch to Classic has been very underwhelming so far.

So, 2 Picks left, and its between Heave Ho, MO: Astray, Chess Ultra and Horace. I guess if I hate platformers, I’m stuck with MO:Astray ahd Chess Ultra? Or are either so bad, that I need to get Horace?

I usually watch one of the several YouTube videos which discuss each month’s selection so I can decide. For example here is one for May:

MO: Astray is a platformer, with a slightly unusual control scheme (you first choose the angle of your jump with the right analogue stick before pressing the jump button). As mentioned earlier RPS liked it a lot. Horace is good, especially if you grew up in 80’s Britain, but again not much use to you if you hate platformers.

MO is interesting so far. It reminds me a bit of Rain World. Thanks again, @vinraith!

You could always just not select your final picks. I’ve left a few months open, in case the way I feel about certain games changes between now and some hypothetical time in the future when I might actually want to try them. :)
