I am looking for a safe ISO burner so I can create an image from a disk without ushering in hordes viruses and other rubbish!

I’m cleaning up my nerd storage and found a couple of old disks that I want to keep, but I don’t want to keep a physical copy either. I need a simple ISO burner that won’t log my keys or send pictures of me to the Chinese government. Most internet advice on this matter is circa 2012 and older. Any ideas?

Edit: I think the DVD reader was in shock when tried to open it. I had to push the button a few times before it emitted some worrying sounds and eventually opened up. Now to see if it’s possible to install and run Nascar 2003. It’s only been 20 years!

I think ImgBurn is still ok.

I also thought of ImgBurn but the internet says it’s chockfull of malicious stuff.

I think windows has a built in one.

Yeah, right click file.

IMGBuen used to be good. Now it’s loaded with adware.

Right click and…

Burn to disc? Mine says Burn to Image, but I have Windows 10.

No :(

Are you burning to a disc or creating an image from a disc?

I want to create an image from a disc. Preferably without infecting my hard drive with malware.

Have you inserted the disc in question? What version of Windows?

Someone i trust recommended these two to me recently.

I’ve not tried them yet, but he uses them to rip DOS games and then make custom launchers for himself.

I’ve never used it, but searching for “Open Source” ISO burners I found something called “Black Box ISO Burn

ok i read your intent backwards

looks like windows hid the program for a bunch of ppl

This should still work:

ISOBURN.EXE [/Q] [:]

eg

ISOBURN.EXE /Q D: C:\blahblah\stuff.iso

This command will burn an existing ISO image onto a disk. I’m looking to create an ISO image from a disk.

I’m sorry, I thought it would rip ISOs too.

If you want to avoid the IMGBURN adware, this one is open source.
