James Wan gets to direct Aquaman

Popped up in UK Netflix and I’m about halfway into it, and other than all the things you guys said two years ago, the thing that bothers me the most so far, above all else, is just how fast everything and everyone moves under water. Every camera zooms around like it was tied to an f-18, every person swimming has boosters on (and yet once in a while do utterly unconvincing sculling motions with their hands). It’s like they are all in deep space rather than crushing tons of water, and worse, gives the entire underwater world a fake presence that doesn’t at all convince me these lost civilisations are interesting or memorable, just a throwaway video game mishmash of things to hurtle by. Really big fail, considering how much work went into it all.

Peter David’s Atlantis Chronicles was way more interesting, if anyone wants a fun read, wish they had established that story in a movie as a prequel and then did a Mamoa movie after in the present world.
