Krugman 9/11 post triggers demands that he be banned

Probably just slipped Tom’s mind at unbanning time that Koontz had an alt account.

Go away. Don’t come back. You exist with the child molesters as a depraved cyst in the body of online humanity. We should be free to have our conversations without worrying about whatever IRL outrage your sick brain misinterprets the forum as inviting.

George Will’s 9/11 column was somewhat similar to Krugman’s.

Remember harder about why he got banned, and you might not be so quick to lay out the welcome mat.

The only obvious error I see is a comma splice, which isn’t a big deal. Brian made errors like anyone else.

Not to mention his self-invented capitalization and punctuation schemes.

It should also be remembered that The Bad Thing Koontz Did was after he’d been banned. He was banned for mouthing off to Tom in PMs after refusing to retitle a thread called “Rape Them, Black Master.”

Also the lack of Odd somewhat random Capitalization.

Edit: Bah, need to read faster!

Ruh roh.

Also American Imperialism? Man I wish it worked like that, but the American public has had plenty of proof that wars are costly bloodpits that suck the life out of this country, not profitable Civ style engagements.

Well, the world will get past it eventually. Africa is the most exciting place on the planet right now, sitting on the cusp of a market revolution that’ll put the one in SE Asia to shame! All the signs are there: gradual improvements in governance and education, favorable demography and a decline in warfare. Sure it’ll be crony capitalism, but the critical thing is getting the skeezebags at the top to realize they can make lots of money by not fighting and instead exploiting the locals. Until those locals eventually drive em out!

Wish I still had that study that showed how tightly regular conflict was correlated with low levels of economic development. Anyway I’ve got lots of hope for the future, and it’ll be awesome seeing Africa finally escape grinding poverty and warfare.

Robert Sharp wrote: “If you are indeed Brian Koontz, prove it by explaining to me what your ideal porn would be.”

Mr. Sharp is referring to a post I made around 2005 titled something like “The New Paradigm in Sexual Voyeurism” referring to the fall of traditional porn (with “pornstars”) and the rise of amateur do-it-yourself porn. A paradigm that has since progressed considerably.

I am an observer of this cultural element rather than a participant. I am aware that can be made into a joke.

As far as my capitalization style goes, I’ve since mostly normalized that so some of you will clearly be pleased, although I felt the style was treated unfairly.

To set the record straight - “Rape Them, Black Master” was my commentary on Cleve Blakemore’s racial position. John Many Jars misrepresented that in his above post through the omission of key context. Also, Tom wanted me to delete that post, not retitle it. Although Tom is not my editor, so to be fair I likely would have objected to a re-titling as well.

It is true that I mouthed off to Tom in a PM. Whether this was the real reason (or as I suspect, mostly a pretext) for the banning is speculative. It is also true that many things led to me mouthing off to Tom, including his lightly-justified (and never publicly discussed) banning of Qt3 members, including Cleve Blakemore who as John Brownlee pointed out was merely a “poet of despair” (and quite a good poet in my view) as well as Tom’s lack of communication in general.

It is also true that I wasn’t the easiest person to get along with. I’ve since somewhat improved in that regard.

That obviously isn’t a serious discussion. I am a Global Socialist and I support a global minimum living wage.

Whatever happened to the “terrar alerts”…I miss them so.

There’s no way that’s the real Koontz. Somebody’s trying too hard.

I agree. Something is off… and not in the way we expect with koontz.

Hey Brian, if it’s you post something on your blog to indicate it.

I can’t imagine koontz isn’t under the same kind of IP ban Fussbett, dirt, et al are under.

I am sure it is him, but this is what people wanted, all the banned persons back and no way for them to be kicked out again.

Who cares if Koontz is back? Carry on people.

Even you must be embarrassed for you at this point.

No embarassment at all pointing out the consequences of peoples actions here. If you feel embarassed by what has happened that is something you need to deal with, don’t involve me in your personal issues.

This forum is getting really tiresome, in that it seems, no matter how a thread starts or what the topic is, it always devolves into people nyah nyahing each other personally and the interesting topic discussion disappears in the jr. high school bickering.

(And don’t reply with a nyah nyah or I will turn you into the principle and it will go on your personal record and he’ll paddle you with the electric paddle.)
