Lowe's steps right into it, rolls around in it

Well, but Lowe’s has a whole “Lowe’s Social Responsibility” site, that has a section called “Diversity and Inclusion”. So they seem to understand that corporations are supposed to pretend to have social values…unless you’re talking about Mooslim death cults apparently.

Right on.

What kind of world do we live in where a John Many Jars post is factually accurate?

This. Although I would encourage them to reevaluate and let bygones be bygones should they arrive at an acceptable compromise, because ultimately the prime movers in these kinds of bullshit situations are the original [nazis].

Yeah, let’s not lose sight of the fact Lowe’s was the party doing the elevating here. This same group has decided they have issues with Degrassi. I don’t see a whole lot of people pulling ads from Degrassi. Why the voice in the wilderness was listened to this time is a question Lowe’s should have to answer, not simply shrug off.

Canton told The Huffington Post that the LGBT content “licentiously appealed to the prurient nature of teenagers,” saying he believed that the scenarios also promoted behavior that doesn’t naturally occur in high school settings.

“How many high schools have a gay first-string quarterback who becomes lovers with someone else on the team? This relationship is extremely unlikely and they shouldn’t open this to dialogue,” Canton – once applauded by American Family Association president Don Wildmon as the “quarterback” of the pro-family movement – said. “And I think that it is statistically improbable that you will have a female-to-male transgender who is in love with a lesbian or bisexual in a school setting.”

Srsly guys do the math for my bigotry. It’s statistical!

Also I’m pretty sure if you say something like “licentiously appealed to the prurient bleep bloop blap” you should get punched in the face for the rest of your life, by someone wearing a boxing glove with dicks painted on it.

TV shows are totally governed by statistics and events that are likely.

This is why most sitcoms have fat men living with incredibly hot women.

Wait a minute, you’re dating a NFL cheerleader.

Are you bigger than a cut-out of John Candy?

Yea they are. They sponsor Jimmie Johnson who won 5 out of the last 6 championships so they’re pretty big with the NASCAR crowd.

Come to think of it, Aeon’s taken over the El Guapo slot.

I have a pet theory that all the people working at those evangelical anti-sex groups are themselves porn-obsessed. I mean, just look at that phrase; I couldn’t write something that pervy if I tried.

That theory sounds suspiciously similar to “all homophobes are gay”.

Maybe! Working fulltime for a group devoted entirely to sex policing is a whole different level though.

I certainly agree that the whole “homophobes = actually gay lol” thing is problematic and wrongheaded for several reasons. But the cliche of sexual reactionaries - vis homosexuality or in general - sounding hilariously prurient themselves has firm roots in fact. “Thou rascal beadle,” etc.

Not every puritan is a seething hypocrite, obviously, but the concept isn’t just cosmopolitan satire.

Science!

Russell Simmons has bought all the remaining ad space on “All-American Muslim.”

“Just purchased remaining spots for #allamericanmuslim for next week,” he wrote. “The show is now sold out! keep your money @lowes and we will keep ours.”

I’m sure that All-American Muslim will tick up in the ratings now thanks to all the attention. I was thinking about checking it out, but my aversion to all things “reality” on television won’t seem to let me.

Some of these groups still don’t seem to understand the Streisand Effect very well.
