Music I just listened to and just had to freaking share

Man, I loved that song as a kid. It still pops (ha!) up in my head now and then. “New York, London, Paris, Munich, everybody talk about … pop music!”

Of course that song reminds me of this one. They came out a year apart.

That’s one of my all-time favorite songs. I am not a dancer, but I gotta boogie when I hear it. I put it on my playlist for my wedding reception to get folks on the dance floor - alway works.

You are obviously a man of taste and distinction.

That’s what I keep telling everybody!

I suggest to put a 10 years ban on Vivaldis Four Seasons. Instead, we should listen to his other music…

It takes a lot of practice, until you have that much fun with the cello.

based on this Vivaldi, we have this re-composition

I’m nothing if not in tune with what the kids listen to these days.

I believe they’re now referred to as “Whippersnappers”.

No idea why punk and new wave bands in the 70s and 80s got all the great bassists…but they did. Goddamn, William Mysterious of the Rezillos just going bonkers for two and a half minutes.

Paul Durham (and Black Lab) don’t get enough love. Such a great songwriter. I backed his kickstarter for a new solo album last year and the singles are trickling onto Spotify (album hit backers late last year already).

Phenomenal track and the bassist is a total hot shot. Thank you for sharing that.

The Youtube recommendation algorithm recently blessed me with this irresistibly bouncy jam.

I can Let’s Active all day!

One of the most impactful musical experiences in my life was driving back to college on my first spring break (I didn’t go anywhere more exotic than home to do laundry and hang out). Was almost back to school when the student-run station played “In Little Ways” and by a third of the way through the song I was like “This is the best song I have ever heard in years.” And then the DJ mentioned that it was Mitch Easter’s band (a name I recognized because I’d just started getting into REM seriously earlier that year)…and well, that was that.

If I’m remembering the album credits correctly, “In Little Ways” is basically Mitch playing all the instruments himself. And producing and engineering.

I also love how Let’s Active went from the simple 3-minute pop song of “Every Word Means No” to what is damn near prog rock with “Waters Part” in like 18 months…

I love Wolf Parade and have no idea how I missed this the past 3 years. One of those songs that has so many different parts that I love.

Pouring one out tonight

Be careful what you wish for

In listening to it this time, it strikes me that the lyric “save your poison” may be a reference to the blessing of St. Benedict

…and speaking of additional chances

It’s “duke” by the way, “duke”

I also like walking the streets of Japan until I get lost

Apparently In the Meantime by Spacehog is being used in the new Guardians of the Galaxy 3 trailer. What I also didn’t know is that the song uses a sample from the song Telephone and Rubber Band by Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

Here’s a link to the song which, from some reason, I can’t stop listening to.
