New monitor: 22 or 24 inch?

I am thinking of moving the 19" LCD monitor from my main system over to the second PC to replace its gigantic Viewsonic CRT. I figure I’ll get a widescreen because I watch movies on the PC and it will give me more screen real estate for all the other junk I do at the computer.

My main question is in terms of gaming. With the following specs will I see noticeable performance hits running on a 24 inch at 1900x1200 vs. a 22 inch running 1680x1050?

Specs on my gaming rig:

Vista 64-bit
4 GB ram
Core 2 Duo 6850 (3 GHz)
GeForce 8800GTX

Any input is appreciated!

Runs fine on my system (I’m in Vista 32-bit, 8800GTX, Q6600, 4GB, 24" at 1920x1200).

In any case, you can always run games in lower resolutions if there is an issue – they still look great, typically.

I ran a 24" 1920x1200 from my 8800gtx for years. No probs.

24" 1920X1200 on my 8800GT and most games are fine. Plus having 1080p resolution is nice if you watch any media on the thing.

Go for the 24". Honestly even on my G2400WD it scales good enough so that even if I need to I don’t mind having to bump it down a bit. Even with a 8800GTS 320mb/Q6600 most stuff runs 1920*1200 fine.
