No thread about the Oregon Wildlife Refuge standoff?

Might have just struck her on the arm. The muzzle velocity of a Vietnam-era grenade launcher was close to 250 feet/second which could do a lot of damage regardless of the nature of the projectile.

Eh, 250ft/second isn’t gonna do that. A paintball gun shoots faster than that.

That’s true but it could depend on how far she was from the where the weapon was fired. Also, most paintball guns probably don’t fire 20 or 40 millimeters-sized paintballs.

Sure, but it’s just physics. MV^2 dude. There’s just not enough force in a gas canister launched to do that kind of massive damage.

But if the thing blew up right next to her, or maybe if she picked it up before it blew? Then maybe that could cause that.

Maybe. I don’t know. The lack of any burn marks on her arm or clothing makes me wonder, though.

How hard or soft is the material used on a paintball, anyway?

Not that hard.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection denied a journalist entry into the US because he’s going to cover the DAPL.

CO: Not just your phones, they took your notebooks away. What did they do with them?

EO: Yeah, so, they went through everything that I had on me. They told me that at the border they have the access to search, retain, copy and go through everything that you bring on you.

CO: After all this, were you allowed across the border?

EO: No, I wasn’t.

After multiple interrogations, they said that I might be on a person-of-interest list and that I was being denied entry. When I pressed them further and asked them why, they said, ‘We don’t have to tell you why. This is our choice.’ I told them this is a clear violation of press freedoms. I’m a journalist going to cover a story.

“Although we have had continuing discussion and exchanges of new information with the Standing Rock Sioux and Dakota Access, it’s clear that there’s more work to do,” Darcy said. “The best way to complete that work responsibly and expeditiously is to explore alternate routes for the pipeline crossing.”

Darcy said that the consideration of alternative routes would be best accomplished through an Environmental Impact Statement with full public input and analysis.

Took longer than it should have, but at least we got there.

I tend to think that most folks have some redeeming quality about them. I struggle to find this with Ann Coulter.

I wonder if this might be one of the talking points Trump uses to drum up support if, after his inauguration, he tries to overturn the recent decision to find an alternate route.

She is seriously just a terrible fucking monster.

I think she’s gotten way darker, and way more monstrous over the past ten years or so. I think she’s single? I get the impression that she’s got some MAJOR mental issues that she is absolutely not dealing with at all. She’s just pushing them down, and turning them into little diamonds of hate.

Her being single has nothing to do with anything. Are we pointing to all the bachelors now and questioning their mental state?

I am all for calling her out on her toxic viewpoints but leave single women out of it.

No, no, sorry… But I think that perhaps I meant that she seems profoundly LONELY.
Being single doesn’t make you lonely… and being NOT single doesn’t mean the opposite… but I think she seems very lonely to me. Or miserable in some other fashion, and she wants to impose that same misery onto everyone else.

Some part of me feels pity for her, because I get the impression she’s gotta be really unhappy with her life.

So think of me as being really really dense. What coded message is she trying to get across? That the protesters are people of color? Poor? Smell bad? Don’t bathe? Have scabies?

Yep. This.

It’s not even coded, really. She’s basically saying, “More brown people bitching about shit.”

It is currently a right wing talking point that all protesters are being paid to be there. That they are the same group of people showing up all over the place thanks to George Soros money. There are, in their world, very few real protesters of anything.

Ah, I had thought it was racism. Hadn’t seen the conspiracy theory angle.

It is racism, don’t worry. Because it’s a Trump supporter speaking about any subject, you are virtually guaranteed it contains at its core a wonderful nugget of racism!

Also, just so you guys don’t start to think I’m nothing but bitterness and hate, let me share this thing that made me cry a little bit last night:

Please, read it.
