I have the Air540, too – love this beast. After my last two computers were mini-ITX builds, I decided to just get a huge case with plenty of space and hide it under the desk. Mine’s less blingy than yours, but has also been great.

First time I’ve liked LEDs on a case. That cat case is awesomely kitschy.

Next up is something which made an appearance at CES and still has yet to launch to the market, but made its way onto more than a few “crazy/cool” cases of 2020 lists.

One more unusual shape to throw into the mix: the cylinder. More specifically, an approximately 3’ tall cylinder with four rollers on the bottom. Aesthetically, it looks like a cross between some weird droid and … maybe something else I just can’t quite place.

But aesthetics aren’t the only thing which draws me to this case. There are two fairly unique features built in. The first is how after removing the magnetized panel, the entire system can be pulled out in a tray for super easy access:

The other is the bottom-to-top wind tunnel approach to cooling including an absolutely MASSIVE exhaust fan.

Once the final version of this prototype hits the market, I’ll be very interested to see how it performs on thermals. Obviously not for sale just yet, but speculation is it will eventually go for the boutique case price level of somewhere around $500 or so.

The Corsair pre-builts are similar to that. I like them.

What was worse was when you scraped the top of you fingernail along the metal edge, leaving a gouge or cutting a layer off. Gives me shivers just thinking about it.

I am considering this case for my build when Zen 3 gets released. I’ve always wanted a horizontal mounted mobo case. I have the room for it. I would be retiring my 2012 Antec P280, which was a very quiet and windowless case. :)

It’s not horizontally mounted. It is simply somewhat wider than other towers.

It allows you to turn it on the side and have the window on top, see here:

Interesting idea. If you don’t have any issues with an open case (pets, etc.), you could also look at laying down the Thermaltake P5 (the feet are removable) and I think it it would look like a glass-covered test bench setup.

I have the 540 (not flipped) and love it. My favorite case ever. Two old hard drives mounted on the bottom for storing large files and backups, a few SSDs on the backside, super easy to work in.

I used to schlepp my previous PC around from place to place. Thus my current one is a no-frills mini tower and a lot lighter. Not sure how big my next one will be since I will more than likely simply get a Dell or whatever versus building a PC from scratch. If I need to I will get a harness with handles for it though.

I see for $10 more I could get the Corsair 740

I went from a tiny Ghost S1 to this md-tower from Phanteks. I’m digging it:

$209 for the silver one (the one I went with) at Amazon

It’s quiet, cool, and well-made. It’s easy to have a clean build with this. Terrific cable management. Even the back is tidy.

Phanteks does make some very good cases, and that one looks pretty darn sharp. Nice!

I have a slightly older version of that case & love it, but my god if that’s the mid size I’d hate to have the full version! It’s as big as my old cheese grater G5 Mac Pro.

I’ll introduce you to the Phanteks Enthoo 719 (originally marketed as the Luxe 2):

Wow. That’s a lot of case (and more than I’d want unless I had a zillion drives or something).

I like that it has a vertical GPU mount option.
