PG&E filing for bankruptcy protection

It’s happening. The big bad of Erin Brokovich is finally feeling the pinch. Contaminating groundwater? Blowing up a whole neighborhood? Nope. It’s the forest fires that did it.

Spoilers dude, come on.

For some reason my brain was positive the initialism meant Proctor & Gamble (it’s early! [it’s not, but my sleep habits are mega fucked up so it’s early in a relative sense!]), and I got real excited at the prospect of the 6 companies who make everything you buy at a supermarket becoming 5 -.-

But hey, instead, it’s some evil power conglomerate? Woohoo!

So, I thought California passed some bill limiting PG&E’s liability so it wouldn’t have to declare bankruptcy. What happens now it has? Does the law still reduce the liability or were the legislators canny enough to ensure they didn’t take advantage? Seems unlikely.

I think it did but then the latest round of fires hit. Actually one of the massive fires PG&E was blamed for has been determined by Cal Fire to be someone else’s fault.
