I’ll go with Whirling Blades (Mastery 1) round 1. If Chimminy is attacked and hurt that round or if Kriq’itt uses Hunter’s Aptitude in Round 1, Battle Dance (Mastery 2) + Rhythmic Movements (Defend) second round using a healing item on anyone (including me) who needs it; if not, Whirling Blades again.
This really shouldn’t last past round 2, but if it does somehow, same condition for using Whirling Blades would apply again.
Akbar is using All Tied Up, so can probably prevent defend. But I think we only do 27+ favored opponent damage with Orion defending. Can Orion declare action after favored opponent roll?
Akbar can Attack while he uses ATU for an extra 5, so a min of 30 (12 from Chimminy, 13 from Cheya). Oh, and then Melhin comes in for 6, plus a minimum of 1 from Favored Opponent, so 37 min.
Actually, unless ATU double-rolls 2 for Kriq’itt’s action, he can’t possibly defend for more than 3 this round, so, I think that’s indeed a one-shot :-D
PS: Y’all should remember Orion has a class feature that allows doing two actions each combat round if he pays energy equal to the difference between those two actions’ ranks.
Good point. Orion’s not a great offensive character, but if he does both Mental Manifestation and Mind Trap (total cost 4 energy) and targets Kriq’itt’s Chitinous Shell (defend) action, I think that guarantees us a one-shot kill.
Also, was Orion at full health after the Pangolin battle? Should have 1 TP if so.
I’m really enjoying your game. I’ve started a two-player game, and I’m learning a lot following your game at the same time. Please keep your posts coming!
Yeah, I really like this game. It’s surprisingly interesting as a narrative constructor. Feels like a procedurally generated CYOA with a huge amount of choice. It’s easy to get immersed in; the writing, theme, and mechanics all mesh well.
This is the thing. I’ve seen people dismiss it as too random. And there’s a lot of randomness to be sure. And it may seem like you only have a few decisions in things like combat. But…if you scratch that surface it turns out there are so, so many options and decisions to make that have real impact on the direction of your game.
I’m not gonna lie, I’d be willing. Once we finish this, and I have Forests implemented as a mod. (One of those things is coming much sooner.)
“During a Caravan Journey from a City-State to the Wastes we draw the Caravan-master who lets you place a tile and explore it mid-journey; we take a Great Eagle from there to a Forests tile with a Fairy Circle on it and enter the Fairy circle and go to the fae realm to harvest shimmery sprockets with our Tools; at the end of the Event Phase, do we. . . end up back on the Caravan?”
– Rules questions I would be mildly excited to inflict on @malkav11 after this game is over ;-)
