Qt3 Movie Podcast: 3x3: worst redemptions

Just watched I, Tonya. If there’s a thread for it, the site’s search function isn’t revealing it. I have a slightly different read than Tom’s about this bit specifically. Tonya herself does the equating, which I think is distinct from the movie making that point. From the very beginning, Tonya is shown to be unable to accept responsibility for her own errors. Everything is someone else’s fault — her mother points this out explicitly. When her mother, Jeff, and Shawn are out of the picture and she’s still failing, she moves responsibility for that to the press and the public.

I think the movie, rather than saying those things are equivalent, is making a point about Harding’s inability to cope with failure.
