Quake 3 to be open-sourced by the end of the year

Hopefully punkbuster will keep the source release from having any negative impact on the player community.

Doesn’t seem to me like the people sticking around to make up Quake 3’s community these days would be the ones where cheating would be a huge epidemic. Am I wrong in that assumption? I figure the ones still playing it are the ones who really enjoy the game as it’s meant to be played, Quake 3’s certainly not the hip game for 13 year olds these days.
