RIP Sir Ken Adam, Designer of Iconic Movie Sets

Sir Ken Adam, James Bond production designer, dies aged 95

Sir Ken’s famous sets include the triangular Pentagon War Room in Dr Strangelove and the villain’s headquarters in the 1962 James Bond film Dr No.

He also designed the car in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Also production designer for Barry Lyndon and Madness of King George, both of which he won Oscars.

But the Bond films are what a couple of generations will remember him for. Make a mental picture of “evil mastermind’s lair” in your mind, and chances are you’ll be channeling Ken Adam.
